Org. Setting and Reporting

UNRWA is a United Nations agency established by the General Assembly in 1949 and is mandated to provide assistance and protection to a population of some 5.8 million registered Palestine refugees. Its mission is to help Palestine refugees in Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, West Bank and the Gaza Strip to achieve their full potential in human development, pending a just solution to their plight. UNRWA’s services encompass education, health care, relief and social services, camp infrastructure and improvement, microfinance, and emergency assistance. UNRWA is the largest UN operation in the Middle East with more than 30,000 staff. UNRWA is funded almost entirely by voluntary contributions. Supervisor: The incumbent is reporting to the Deputy Chief Field Education Programme/ Admin.

Responsibilities

In accordance with established Agency policy and procedures the incumbent:

  • Develops a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress in coordination with relevant staff in the Education Programme.
  • Coordinates with the respective stakeholders inside and outside the Agency (i.e., consultants, vendors, government counterparts, community leaders) with respect to resource availability and allocation to ensure the continuity in execution of the project activities;
  • Ensures that project activities are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget; coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget;
  • Establishes work plan for each phase of the project and arranges for assignment of project personnel where requested; confers with project staff to outline the work plan;
  • Prepares regular consolidated progress reports (narrative and financial) and ad-hoc reports as requested including for donors.
  • Establish and successfully manage the relationship with all stakeholders including Donor Relations Unit, Human Resources, Projects and Finance.
  • Perform risk management to minimize project risks; creates and maintains comprehensive project documentation and ensures lessons learned are captured and documented.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor(s).

Education

  • University degree from an accredited institution in Business administration, economics, project management, engineering, or any relevant specialization.

Work Experience

  • One year working experience in the area relevant to the project scope, designing, planning and managing projects is required. -Please confirm if you live/ reside in West Bank or Jerusalem? And if you have West Bank or Jerusalem ID. please to mention its number down, as it is desirable.

Languages

  • Excellent command of written and spoken English and Arabic.
