Commissioned by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), the United Nations Development Programme Georgia, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection, the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and the Vocational Skills Agency, implements a “Modernization of VET System related to Agriculture and Rural Development in Georgia” Project aiming at improved agricultural knowledge and skills contributing to increased productivity, income and employment of rural youth, women and man in Georgia.
Greening the future, advancing rights and stability: Spurring an inclusive and green transition with responsive governance in the Eastern Neighbourhood region
Danish Eastern Neighbourhood Programme funded regional project – Georgia, Moldova and IRH
The project aims to contribute to accelerating inclusive and green transition, responsive governance, and social cohesion in the Eastern Neighbourhood region with country-level focus and implementation in Moldova and Georgia, while providing important regional anchoring with support of UNDP Istanbul Regional Hub to further foster knowledge sharing, potential scaling, and broader regional cooperation.
In the implementation of the both Projects, UNDP will require the services of driver who can ferry Projects personnel to the various venues of the project activities.
As such, UNDP is seeking a Driver, who is basedin Tbilisi, and who willsupport the transportation and logistical needs of the abovementioned projects. The is expected to report on a daily basis to the Project Managers, Head of Field Office, and Administrative and Finance Analysts. The position holder also demonstrates a client-oriented approach, tact and ability to work with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Primary
- Ensures provision of reliable and safe driving services by (a) driving office vehicles for the transport of staff, other officials and visitors and delivery and collection of mail, documents and other items, and (b) meeting official personnel and visitors at the airport including facilitating immigration and customs formalities, as required;
- Ensures cost-savings through proper use of vehicle through accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs, provision of inputs to preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports;
- Responsible for the proper day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle, checks oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, etc., performs minor repairs and arranges for other repairs. Ensures that the vehicle is kept clean;
- Keep the Project Manager informed of any irregularities in the use of the project vehicles and suggest the necessary mitigation measures;
- Ensures availability of all the required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle logs, office directory, map of the city/country, first aid kit, necessary spare parts in the assigned vehicle;
- Logs official trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, oil changes, greasing, etc.;
- Ensures that all immediate actions required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accidents;
2. Secondary
- In coordination with the Finance and Administrative Officer, ensure renewal of vehicle registration, lease, utilities and payments of any fees in connection thereof.
- Extend support services during official functions like meetings and workshops.
- Assist in the reproduction of materials and other related documents.
- Assists in logistic work process as necessary, and flexibility in working hours and over the weekend
- Perform courier services like delivery or pick-up of Project documents/materials.
- Help ensure cleanliness and maintenance of office premises.
- Adhere to and comply with the UNDP rules and regulations.
- Perform other Project related functions as may be assigned by the Project staff from time to time.
- Perform other tasks as may be assigned by the Supervisor.

Education:
Minimum Education requirement
- Completion of secondaryeducation
- Professional Driver’s License
Experience:
Minimum years of relevant work experience
- A minimum 2 years of relevant work experience
Required skills
- Minimum of two years work experience as a professional driver; safe driving record.
- Knowledge of driving rules and regulations.
- Basic elementary knowledge of motor machines and a valid driver’s license.
- Be able to do minor repairs, particularly on common issues related to vehicle breakdown during road trips.
Desired skills in addition to the competencies covered in the Competencies section
- Experience in emergencies and security a definite advantage.
- Previous working experiencewith a UN agency an asset
- Experiences working with National and or international Projects is desirable.
- Experience in driving to the city traffic and regions of Georgia is desirable.
Required Language(s)
- Excellent Georgian language skills (both written and verbal)
- Basic knowledge of English
Travel
Visits to target regions may be required on a need’s basis.
