RSPB Cymru is recruiting a Projects & Finance Administrator to support the various projects
with essential administrative tasks. You will work with project managers, executives,
landowners and stakeholders in key project areas. In addition to this, the role will be a key
support to all of Wales by supporting folks with various financial queries and processes. 

The ideal candidate will be someone with previous experience working on a project or an
administrative, financial or managerial background. You will be working remotely with some
travel needed to meet the organisation’s needs, but at the RSPB, we offer a flexible approach
to work, and those in the post will be required to manage their work plan efficiently. 

What’s the role about? 

You will provide comprehensive business administrative support to one or more larger teams,
sites or projects/ programmes, including the administration of financial processes, travel and
accommodation, events, and diary bookings so that staff and volunteers operate efficiently.

You will lead the overview of monthly management reports and transaction reports, highlighting
any anomalies or errors to budget holders and providing support to make transaction amendments
to ensure accurate tracking of all income and expenditures.

You’ll co-ordinate and support year end process and raise paperwork required by the Finance
Department to support accurate completion of yearly annual accounts, including grant accruals,
carry forwards and compliance within given time frames.

You will support Project Managers in setting up and establishing the budgets for Society Major
Projects and all lifetime forecasts thereafter.

You will be supporting country and/or UK-wide agri-environment payment schemes in the region,
including tracking payments, monitoring income, providing information for grant accruals,
identifying agreements that are ending and supporting any transition to new schemes as
applicable, working closely with the site and land agency teams where required.

You will establish, maintain and develop effective relationships with people at all levels on
behalf of Project Leads to ensure confidential and sensitive financial matters are handled
appropriately and professionally, for example, when dealing with salary information.

Essential skills, knowledge and experience: 

  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (especially Outlook, Word, Excel and
    PowerPoint), plus the ability to impart this knowledge to others.
  • Knowledge of document management and team collaboration tools
  • Knowledge of budget management terminology and processes.
  • Able to communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences, whether by phone, email or
    in person.
  • Ability to read and understand complex budget information
  • Experience of liaising with staff at all levels in external organisations, particularly to
    support partnership working.
  • Experience of managing and reporting financial information.

Desirable skills, knowledge and experience:

  • At least two A-Levels or equivalent qualifications. 
  • Interest in the environment and sustainable living.
  • Experience of working with volunteers
  • Experience of working within a project
  • Knowledge of current conservation issues and priorities.

Additional Information

This is a Fixed-Term role (12 Months). We are hoping to recruit this on a full-time
basis of 37.5 hours a week. However, we are open to adapt and be flexible for the right
candidate. The RSPB reserves the right to extend or make this role permanent without further
advertising dependent on business needs at the end of the contract term
.
