Department Summary | The College of Information (COI) is home to the Departments of Information Science, Learning Technologies, and Linguistics, which have the collective mission to generate, integrate, and disseminate knowledge in a learner-centered environment. |
Position Overview | The College Proposal Manager will provide critical services to faculty within the college as they develop and conduct externally funded research projects. The position supports the dean in developing tracking mechanisms and standard operating procedures. This position supports faculty in proposal submission and resubmission, including working with faculty to assemble and assist in writing sections of the proposal, checking the accuracy of budgets, and coordinating between team members so that the proposal is submitted on schedule via internal and external portals. |

Minimum Qualifications | Bachelor’s Degree in related field and two years of progressively responsible professional-level related experience in proposal submission activities in pursuit of private, local, state, or federal grants or contracts, which includes demonstrated crafting of proposals in response to competitive solicitations that were awarded funding from federal government agencies; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. |

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities | • Demonstrated ability to use varying styles, approaches, skills, and techniques to communicate with various constituents (e.g., faculty, staff, community partners) with diverse backgrounds and experiences. • Strong proposal writing experience; excellent verbal and written communication skills writing original content and editing. • Demonstrated ability to identify key components of an RFP and use them to develop the tools needed to ensure compliance for each proposal effort. • Demonstrated ability to maintain clear, consistent, timely, and effective communication with proposal stakeholders. • Proven track record in management of small to large, complex proposal efforts. |
Preferred Qualifications | The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications: * Strong written English language skills. * Grant writing experience. * Sponsored project administration experience. * Organizational skills. * Time management. * Culture of service leadership experience. * Customer-service oriented attitude. * Supervisory experience. * Proficiency with budget development, accounting, and auditing skills. * Coursework in accounting, finance, management and organizational behavior or communications. |

o | Support researchers with proposal submissions from initial kickoff to final submission. Facilitate kick-off meetings and team communications. Ensure proposal objectives are communicated, and team member responsibilities are defined and assigned. Assist with coordination of proposal documents. Ensure internal and external deadlines are met. |

o | Support to increase number of proposals submitted. Develop strategies to distribute funding opportunities. Read, analyze, distribute targeted funding opportunity announcements. Initiate and maintain regular research goals discussions with faculty. Provide faculty with resources for funding opportunity searches. Understanding of college, university, and sponsor funding priorities. |

o | Support to increase quality of proposals. Provide editorial review of proposals where possible. Provide technical editing services. Provide grantsmanship advice to ensure accuracy and proposal quality. |

Provide guidance by connecting faculty to resources; i.e., connecting faculty with internal reviewer, program officers, access to other awarded grant proposals, workshops, and providing other strategies. |
