Job Purpose
The Proposals Officer will provide support with a diverse set of tasks related to opportunities mapping and proposals design and development. In this role, you will contribute to Better Business growth through the identification of RFPs – Bids – EOIs – Grants and the development of strong proposals that respond to those opportunities. The position requires continuous coordination with the Senior Grants Specialist and the Projects Team, in order to design interventions that are relevant to the context, consistent with Better Business core capabilities, and responsive to perspective clients’ requirements. To do this successfully, you’ll need to employ meticulous time-management and organization skills, as juggling multiple tasks with competing deadlines is common in this role.
Main Tasks
The following summarizes the main tasks expected for the position:
- Researching and identifying new opportunities (RFPs, Bids, EOIs, Grants) on a weekly basis
- Summarizing relevant opportunities and suggesting how to address them
- Researching data and information needed for proposal development
- Developing winning proposals under the direction of the Senior Grants Specialist
- Supporting in budget development for each proposal
- Maintaining necessary records, files, reports, databases, and resource materials
- Supporting in the creation of internal databases and monitoring tools relevant to the Grants and RFPs function
- Other tasks related to the position as required.
Position Requirements
- Experience: 1-2 years of experience in relevant positions, with a focus on proposal writing;
- Academic: BA in a relevant discipline (International Relations, Political Sciences, Social Research, Economics, Development Studies, or similar);
- Knowledge: basic understanding of grants and tendering processes and budgeting principles;
- Language: professional proficiency in English and Arabic, to the point of being able to develop strong and convincing proposals tackling various themes;
- Software skills: proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;
- Other skills: research, networking, attention to details, coordination, time management, and planning skills are all essential to the position;
- Cross-cultural work environment: ability to operate in a cross-cultural environment requiring flexibility.

Selection Process
