General Description of the Role:

In close line management of Head of Programs or Program Manager, the Protection Coordinator is responsible for the overall implementation of the protection components/activities in accordance with the agreed outcomes and budget.   The Protection Coordinator is responsible for the development and management of the protection program and overall technical advisory

 

Main Duties and Responsebilities 

 

  • Provide Overall technical expertise and advisory on protection component.
  • Develop and update SOPs and guidelines of protection Program.
  • Overall management of protection Staff
  • Develop and manage the implementation of Protection activities to achieve project goals and objectives including designing and implementing relevant indicators, monitoring and evaluation systems and frameworks
  • Work as Project Manager for Protection projects.
  • Contribute to the development of proposals for new funding opportunities
  • Maintain up to date project plans based on activities and financial progress
  • Ensure that project teams develop community acceptance in the project areas, having respectful relationships with community members
  • Ensure timely and accurate contributions to project narrative reports, quarterly performance indicator tracking tables, baseline and final reports
  • Support Head of Programs to identify key issues affecting project implementation, or key local issues affecting future grant/project developments
  • Conduct regular visits to project implementation areas and advise and support field staff with the identification and solution of technical issues
  • Develop Detail Implementation plan, procurement plan, human resource plan, budget spending trend monitoring plan and performance indicators for each project.
  • Ensuring the project is implemented in line with Protection policies or relevant standards and in collaboration with Protection cluster, various protection related working groups and other stakeholders.
  • Ensuring logistical preparation of meeting and activities and identifying, engaging and coordinating activities. Consulting and negotiating with Local clusters in (NES) to strengthen your communication channels impact positively on the Protection Projects objectives and oversee the selection and verification of beneficiaries, if needed
  • Ensuring project activities are implemented to a high quality based upon related standards and guidelines (e.g., GBV, PSS, Case management and mobile protection SOPs, etc.)
  • Ensure all internal and external narrative and financial reports (weekly, monthly, interim, and final) for the assigned projects are submitted within agreed time frames to the relevant stakeholders
  • Ensure project completion, filing and archiving procedures are implemented, with a system for filing project documents in a clear and ordered way
  • Support cross-team learning through regular department/team meetings
  • Responsible for managing project budgets, monitoring expenditure to budget and identify and act on any corrective actions required. In conjunction with the finance and logistics staff, ensure project budgets are well scheduled and a procurement plan is drawn up
  • Build positive working relationships with Project stakeholders, including Community Leaders, government officials, governmental departments, NGOs, donor representatives and other related stakeholders
  • Liaise with Logistics, Finance, and other departments as appropriate to identify and plan the support needed for implementation of projects, advising on procurement needs as appropriate
  • Work with the MEAL Coordinator to ensure that monitoring data is collected including baseline data, secondary data, reviews, end line surveys, donor reporting and internal/external evaluations
  • Ensure robust coordination with the project service providers including but not limited to the Trainers and External Evaluator
  • Perform other duties assigned by the direct supervisor.

University degree in BA, Law studies, Social Sciences, or another relevant field and strong trainings in Protection

Required Skills and Abilities:

 

–  Minimum 5 years’ experience in protection Programming

–  Minimum 5 years’ previous experience with NGOs

–  Good English proficiency both written and spoken

–  Good Communication and Leadership skills

–  Familiarity with Northeast Syria context

–  Ability to work under pressure and manage a team.

–  Demonstrated knowledge of humanitarian standards and standard of ethics
