DRC Poland is looking for four qualified and enthusiastic professionals to be part of the mobile protection monitoring team based in Warsaw but covering the Mazovian and potentially other neighboring voivodships. Under the supervision of the protection monitoring project manager, and in close collaboration with the protection officer, Protection monitors will be field based. They will be responsible to develop and maintain good relations with the persons of concern and will support the implementation of DRC’s protection objectives and activities to provide timely and effective protection to persons of concern under DRC projects in the open accommodation sites.    

Responsibilities: 

  • Engage with communities directly and identify prevailing protection risks and human right violations which affect community members including those related to child protection 
  • Gather and document data around protection concerns and threats and contribute to analyses on trends and needs of displacement affected populations. 
  • Identify main protection risks and concerns affecting displaced persons through Focus Group Discussions and Key Informant Interviews on community level using standardized tools provided by DRC.  
  • Provide appropriate and relevant information to refugees and migrants regarding their rights and services available to them. 
  • Identify individuals at heightened risk and facilitate appropriate action, including referrals to specialized services or individual protection assistance. 
  • Document results from protection monitoring activities through reports (daily, bi-weekly, periodically).  
  • Ensure proper filing of documents in hard and soft copies in line with data responsibility and data protection policies, 
  • Participate in verification exercises to ensure adequate and relevant data collection. 
  • Participate in awareness raising sessions and information campaigns for persons of concern.  
  • Support facilitation of joint analyses of findings and bringing protection monitoring findings back to affected communities. 
  • Encourage, support, and monitor community-based protection networks in accommodation sites and urban areas.  
  • Support the implementation of general protection activities in accordance with agreed objectives.  
  • Provide translation/interpretation as necessary. Any other duties as may be assigned by the line manager, relevant to the achievement of Protection objectives. 

Experience and technical competencies: 

  • Minimum 1-year relevant work experience with persons at heightened risk, refugees and other displaced persons 
  • Excellent communication skills, as well as respect, patience, and politeness, are needed. 
  • Very good computer/mobile devices skills.  
  • Understanding of key protection concepts  
  • Fluency in Ukrainian or Russian is required. 
  • Good command of verbal and written English is desirable. 
  • Working knowledge of Polish is considered an asset. 

Education: 

  • University degree/diploma in a related field (social work, sociology, psychology, etc.)

  • Ukrainian fluent
  • Polish good command
