Position Responsibilities and Duties:

Project design and management
Supervise the day-to-day, timely implementation of protection activities held in Syria, according to submitted proposals and budgets, and in line with the highest international standards.
In collaboration with the protection team in Syria, actively participate in developing and implementing a plan for the protection program in Syria.
Identify gaps and challenges in the implementation of protection activities and recommend possible solutions.
Technical guidance
Organize weekly meetings with the protection team in NW Syria and foster exchanges between protection teams. The Protection Officer will lead the meetings.
Regularly keep the Program Manager informed of challenges encountered and difficult cases.
Supervise the protection activities and ensure that the protection team in Syria follows the procedures in line with the standard guidelines.
Provide coaching to the team in applying procedures and curricula developed
Regularly review SOPs and suggest changes/amendments as necessary.
Team management
Ensure direct supervision of the protection team in Syria.
Lead weekly one-on-ones with the field supervisors, ensuring information sharing, constant support, and setting clear objectives
Whenever needed, participate in recruitment processes within the protection team in Syria.
Promote an empathetic, safe, and collaborative work environment, in full respect of UDER’s Code of Conduct.

Partnerships
The Protection Officer can attend meetings with partners, donors, and external stakeholders and contribute to discussions bringing insights from the field level.
Internal coordination
Support in liaising with other UDER’s departments, such as Finance, Logistics, and HR for all the programme-related needs.
Contribute to internal visibility of the Protection sector within UDER, through updates of ongoing and/or new projects, especially outlining activities and other elements of interest to other departments.
Knowledge management, monitoring, and reporting

Prepare high-quality and analytical internal and external reports in due time and submit them to the Program Manager.
Collaborate with the M&E team to gather monitoring information and data, keep them organized, and contribute to data analysis.
Assist the protection team in Syria in filling in databases and trackers, and conduct random checks on accurateness of the recorded information
Ensure data are kept confidential and shared only on a need-to-know basis.
Together with the protection team in Syria, develop case studies and communication material for advocacy and reporting.
Perform other tasks as instructed by the Program Manager.

Qualifications & requirements:

Minimum of 2 years experience in protection programming.
Excellent knowledge of NWS context.
Fluency in Arabic and English (both oral and written).
Degree in Psychology or any related field (preferred)
Report writing skills.
Previous experience in the provision of psychosocial support in the humanitarian domain.
Good computer skills.
Able to work with short deadlines and under pressure.
