JOB DESCRIPTION
Your purpose as Protection Project Manager is technical development, strategic direction, and quality assurance as well as monitoring of NRC Sudan’s Protection activities and programme in Darfur region, as well as relevant staff mentoring and capacity development. You will be expected to follow NRC’s standards, procedures, and guidelines for project governance applicable for the particular projects. You will be responsible for the overall planning and coordination of all Protection interventions, either directly within the Protection CC or as an integrated approach across other CCs, across the North and West Area Offices.
Specific responsibilities
- Develop, coordinate and manage Protection & Camp Management Core Competency (CC) projects in line with proposals, strategies and donor requirements
- Responsible for Protection and Camp Management specific input and participation in needs assessments, planning and implementation of responses to new emergencies, as well as to protracted displacement
- Document protection risks and develop advocacy messaging to reduce violence, coercion and deliberate deprivation
- Oversee protection monitoring, case management, referral mechanism.
- Responsible for Protection and Camp Management specific contextual analysis and to take leadership in Darfur Protection programme design and delivery, in consultation with Protection Specialist and other Protection and Camp Management team members
- Establish an excellent working relation with donors, international and national organizations, local authorities, clusters/sectors, CBOs and communities
- Work on the NRC’s Local partners capacity building, and maintain regular follow up on their activities.
- Participate in all Protection and Camp Management coordination forums.
- Prepare all Project operational documents in timely manner (HR Plans, Procurement plans, Work plans, Spending Plans, etc.)
- Maintain close coordination and reporting with the Country office and Area Office M&E Team.
Your value Add: We require that you will bring
- Experience in overseeing project implementation in a humanitarian/violet context
- Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts, including protracted displacement (Previous experience in working in IDP camp and non-camp settings an advantage)
- Ability to manage teams in multiple office locations
- Ability to analyze and integrate quantitative and qualitative data and information from different sources
- Good knowledge and understanding of international standards, and protection fundamental concepts and guiding principles
