Trainer on Protection Topics for DoE, DoLSA and DoY staff.

 Purpose of the Training:

The purpose of this training is to enhance the capacity of the governmental staff including social workers, psychologists, and teachers from the Directorate of Education (DoE), Directorate of Labor and Social Affairs (DoLSA), and Directorate of Youth (DoY) in identifying and addressing protection risks and implementing community-based interventions. This training will support COOPI in mapping protection issues and gaps in services, leading to the creation of effective training modules for local authorities. The aim is to improve the provision of community services such as health and education to meet the population’s needs and ensure long-term sustainability of essential social services.

Duties and responsibilities:

  1. Prepare the training manual in which will be used for each training session on the protection topics
  2. Develop and deliver training sessions on the analysis of protection risks and community-based interventions.
  3. Provide the participants with the necessary skills to address domestic violence incidents effectively, ensuring they maintain sensitivity and provide essential guidance and support.
  4. Strengthen outreach programs to educate communities about available referral mechanisms and foster closer collaboration among NGOs to enhance documentation and information sharing regarding referral mechanisms.
  5. Highlight child labour issue and develop advocacy aim to ensure the children remain in the schools.
  6. Facilitate training session on PSEA, accountability, complaint mechanisms, and principles of protection and referrals.
  7. Provide additional training for DOE staff to enhance their ability to recognize at-risk boys and girls and refer them to social workers.
  8. Collaborate with local authorities to tailor training modules to the specific needs identified through the community profiling and protection risk mapping finalized by COOPI.
  9. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the training sessions, providing feedback and suggestions for improvement.
  10. Conduct pre-post survey to measure the enhancement of the participants

 

Documentation and Reporting:

  1. Document all training activities, including attendance, topics covered, and participant feedback.
  2. Submit comprehensive training reports and evaluations to COOPI as required.

 

 Deliverables and tentative schedule

  • Submission of initial inception report with inputs and action plan on 01/08/2024
  • Draft of training material/manual for review on 11/08/2024
  • Final training material/manual, presentation, agenda, and pre-and post-assessment on 15/08/2024
  • Delivery of trainings: 4 training in 4 location total duration of 15-20 total days.
  • Submission of report with Trainer’s observation on 15/09/2024

COOPI responsibilities:

  1. Review the inception report and provide feedback
  1. Review materials provided by the Trainers.
  2. Coordinate with participants and relevant local authorities, provide training settings/logistics once confirmed, and update Trainer.
  3. Print related materials and provide stationary.
  4. Build the trainer’s the pre and post assessments on Kobo and analyze data accordingly. Map the service providers in all targeted locations and keep record for their contacts in one sheet.

NOTE: The targeted training participants will be distributed into the four locations of the project with a total duration of 15-20 working days:
1- Hatra
2- Hawija
3- Tuz Khormato
4- Aqre

So, the trainer should have flexibility in moving throughout the different locations.

 Compulsory elements of the proposal to be submitted in English:

  • Detailed technical proposal including methodology and timeline.
  • The financial proposal must be in IQD/USD and enclosed a detailed budget.
  • CV of all proposed parties with 2 professional references with contact information.
  • 2 sample of the most recent similar work done in English, Arabic or Kurdish.

 

Qualifications and skills:

  1. At least 3 years of experience as a trainer on protection topics, preferably on community-based protection
  2. Expertise in analysing protection risks and implementing community-based interventions.
  3. Strong knowledge of PSEA, accountability mechanisms, and principles of protection and referral.
  4. Proven ability to facilitate interactive training sessions and engage with diverse groups of participants.
  5. Experience in working with local authorities and understanding of the local context.
  6. Commitment to promoting gender equality and ensuring the inclusion of women in training programs.
  7. Organizing training implementing methodology.
  8. Good communication, presentation and facilitation skills.
