Job Description
Scope of work
The INGO Protection Working Group Coordinator (PWG) will be leading the coordination efforts of NGO Protection partners in NES, liaising with UN protection partners, NES Forum and Whole of Syria (Protection, Child Protection and Gender-Based Violence Areas of Responsibilities), and fostering information sharing between NGOs and UN agencies operating in NES, and leading NES NGO protection advocacy messaging and strategies for the NGO community. This position includes 50% travel throughout the region (mostly within Northeast Syria, and to a limited extent within the region as needed).
Deliverables:
To support the implementation of the PWG strategy, work plan, and priorities in Northeast Syria
To ensure effective coordination and information sharing among PWG members and with other relevant actors, such as NES Forum, other sectors/Working Groups, humanitarian partners, authorities, donors, etc.
Represent the PWG in relevant inter-cluster/sector and inter-agency forums and meetings at the hub and WoS levels, and to advocate for the protection needs and rights of affected populations in Northeast Syria.
To provide technical support and guidance to PWG members on protection analysis, protection monitoring, protection response and protection advocacy
To monitor and report on the protection situation, gaps, challenges, and achievements in Northeast Syria, and to provide regular feedback and recommendations to the Protection Cluster and the WoS Protection Sector at the national level.
To support the area-based protection sector coordination in NES
To mobilize resources and ensure accountability for the PWG activities and outputs in Northeast Syria.
Payment Rate and Schedule:
Payment rate is per deliverable.
Payment will be paid on a monthly basis.
Qualifications
Degree in International relations, law, political science, management, data science and other related fields.
Over 5 years of experience in related field.
Experience in working in Northeast Syria
Familiarity with Humanitarian Programme Cycle (HPC)
Expertise in data analysis and reporting
Excellent understanding of Protection issues in emergency situations/conflict environment and knowledge of humanitarian principles, guidelines and laws and the cluster system.
Experience in working with I/NGOs
Strong analytical, communication, facilitation, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
Familiarity with humanitarian coordination mechanisms and tools, such as clusters/sectors, OCHA, HRP, HNO, 4Ws, etc
