The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) is mandated to lead and coordinate international action to protect and assist refugees and other persons of concern. Private Sector Partnerships Service (PSP) sits within UNHCR’s Division of External Relations (DER) and is responsible for mobilizing resources from the private sector for refugees. UNHCR have developed a $1 Billion Private Sector Fundraising Strategy 2018-2025. This strategy focuses on both Individual Giving and Private Sector Partnerships and identifies priority fundraising markets and regions. As part of this strategy, and in order to achieve the ambitious objectives of mobilizing necessary resources for UNHCR, colleagues working in the sphere of Private Partnerships and Philanthropy (PPH) mainly focus on developing and strengthening long-term partnerships with companies, foundations and private philanthropists (“PPH donors”).
As part of a wider fundraising team, the primary role of PPH colleagues is to seek various forms of support from PPH donors: securing funding for UNHCR programmes will be considered a priority, but the work also includes leveraging the capacities of these partnerships beyond funding, in order to build long-lasting holistic partnerships bringing various forms of support to UNHCR and to persons of concern (POC), such as advocacy, visibility, expertise, innovation and public engagement.
The incumbent will be based in Cairo and will be reporting administratively to the Associate PSP Officer in Egypt office while operating under the supervision the PSP Chief Officer in MENA. He/She will assist the Associate PSP Officer in expanding the pipeline of PPH in Egypt while continuing cultivation of new prospects and stewardship of existing ones.
Purpose and Scope of Assignment:
Under the supervisor of the Associate PSP Officer in Cairo, the PSP Assistant will be:

Purpose and Scope of Assignment:
Under the supervisor of the Associate PSP Officer in Cairo, the PSP Assistant will be:
- Provide on-going market research to identify new prospects in the area of sustainability producing concise summaries for different projects.The research should include high net worth individuals, foundations, corporates, etc.
- Develop new lists of potential donors out of participants in different sustainability areas and other events regionally.
- Support account managers in creating, compiling, and recording (Salesforce) cultivation plans for priority prospects.
- Support account managers in the profiling and due diligence for the potential partners.
- Provide support to account managers in drafting and shaping project concept notes, proposals, and progress reports.
- Support relations with partners, media, contractors and suppliers.
- In co-operation with the local External Relations Section, develop and support activities within the framework of PSP projects that will support refugees and raise of UNHCR’s public awareness.
- Assist the PSP Officer with the Annual PSP Plan.
- Assist in planning events and engagements of PSP participation.
- Perform any other PSP duties as requested.
Monitoring and Progress Controls:
- Quality and timely drafting of concept notes, proposals and reports to ensure partnerships strengthening.
- Conducting research, profiling to expand Egypt PPH pipeline.
- Development of cultivation and fundraising materials based on the plans.
Qualifications and Experience:
Education:
Education:
- Secondary education with preferably a degree in Economics, Public Relations, Political Science, Business Administration, and/or other related fields.
Work Experience:
- Minimum 1 year relevant experience with High School Diploma; or Bachelor or equivalent or higher in Economics, Public Relations, Political Science, Business Administration, or other related fields
- Experience in account and relationship management
- Knowledge of the UN system preferably with UNHCR or another UN Agency is a plus
- Previous experience in donor profiling.

- Excellent written, interpersonal, and oral communication skills are essential.
- Excellent computer skills and practical experience in working with Microsoft Office.
- Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English is imperative, with advanced writing and editing skills.
- Strong understanding of the corporate landscape in MENA.
- Strong passion for refugee affairs, and for UNHCR’s work.
- Awareness of humanitarian affairs, and good writing skills.
- Attention to detail and a results-oriented team player.
- Have excellent research, analytical, drafting and communication skills with strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
