Job description
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated PSP Caseworker to join our PSP (OOHC) team, on the NSW Central Coast.
As a PSP Caseworker, you will be responsible for working with children, carers, and families to provide support and guidance that helps them reach their full potential.
This is a full-time position that requires excellent interpersonal skills, knowledge of Office of the Children’s Guardian Standards, Care and Protection Act NSW, Uphold Child Safe Standards and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse individuals.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments of children’s needs and develop personalised future plans
- Provide ongoing support to children in foster care or residential placements
- Liaise with carers and families to ensure the best interests of the child are met
- Advocate for children’s rights and coordinate necessary services such as education, healthcare, and counselling
- Collaborate with other professionals involved in the child’s life (e.g., teachers, therapists) to ensure holistic support
- Monitor progress through regular home visits and meetings with all stakeholders involved
- Maintain accurate case records and prepare reports as required by organisational guidelines and or legal obligations such as court reports
Skills:
- Strong understanding of child development theories and trauma-informed practices
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) for effective collaboration with diverse individuals
- Ability to assess complex situations accurately while maintaining empathy towards all parties involved
- Proficient in problem-solving techniques that promote positive outcomes for children and young people
- Highly organised with strong time management abilities
- Extensive experience working with Aboriginal children, young people, family and communities
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in social work or related field is required and or minimum 3 years industry experience
- Proven experience working as a caseworker within a similar role is essential.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation governing child protection and out of home care services.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within transdisciplinary teams.
- Clearance from Working With Children Check is mandatory.
- Satisfactory National Police Check is mandatory
