Description
The PSS Facilitator will be responsible for providing technical PSS support to Iraqi returnees in the MHPSS Center in Mosul. The facilitator will work closely with the MHPSS coordinators, case managers/social workers, outreach mobile workers, psychotherapists, and psychiatrists to ensure comprehensive mental health and psychosocial support services.
key Responsibilities:
Facilitation and Implementation:
- Conduct group and individual PSS sessions for Iraqi returnees.
- Develop and implement PSS activities tailored to the needs of beneficiaries.
- Facilitate workshops and group discussions to promote mental well-being.
Coordination:
- Collaborate with MHPSS coordinators, case managers, outreach mobile workers, psychotherapists, and psychiatrists to deliver integrated services.
- Participate in regular team meetings to discuss cases, progress, and challenges.
- Assist in the development and implementation of MHPSS programs and activities.
Monitoring and Evaluation:
- Track and report on the progress of PSS activities and sessions.
- Collect and maintain accurate records of beneficiaries’ participation and outcomes.
- Provide regular reports to the MHPSS Center Manager on the effectiveness of PSS interventions.
Capacity Building:
- Provide training and support to other staff members and volunteers on PSS methodologies and techniques.
- Stay updated with the latest PSS practices and share knowledge with the team.
Advocacy and Awareness:
- Advocate for the mental health needs of Iraqi returnees within the community.
- Raise awareness about the importance of mental health and psychosocial support.
Qualifications & Preferred Skills
- Educational Background:
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in providing PSS services, preferably in humanitarian settings.
- Experience working with displaced populations, returnees, or vulnerable groups in Iraq.
- Previous experience in coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.
- Skills and Competencies:
- Strong facilitation and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle challenging situations.
- Proficiency in Arabic; knowledge of English is an asset.
- Cultural sensitivity and adaptability.
- Personal Attributes:
- Empathetic and compassionate with a strong commitment to helping others.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
