The Department of Psychiatry is seeking an experience Research Specialist with a background in Mental Health research to support federally sponsored study focused on the reduction of suicidal thoughts and behaviors. In this role, you’ll support the Principal Investigator (PI) by developing study protocols and materials, hire and supervise other research staff, ensure regulatory compliance for this work, and help share the knowledge generated by assisting in the creation of manuscripts, progress reports, and other publications. 

Your responsibilities in this position would include, but are not limited to: 

  • providing oversight and support to a federally sponsored multi-site study of suicidal thoughts and behaviors. You’ll be responsible for the development of study protocols, intervention materials, and design of data capture. 
  • serving as the primary liaison between sites to answer questions, provide information, and obtain appropriate information regarding project activities. 
  • hiring, training, oversight, and evaluation of research staff. 
  • managing and overseeing regulatory compliance, sponsor communication, participant recruitment and study visits, and electronic data capture and reporting. 
  • coordinate the submission of research proposals and help prepare working papers, manuscripts, and reports. 
  • conduct fidelity reviews
  • other administrative duties as needed.

All Applicants to this role must have: 

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g. Psychology, Social Work, Etc.). 

To be considered for the Senior level, applicants must also have: 

  • 5 or more years of related research experience. 

To be considered for the Intermediate level, applicants must also have: 

  • 4 or more years of related research experience. 

Preference will be given to candidate who have: 

  • A Masters Degree in a related field (e.g. Psychology, Social Work, etc.). 
  • experience with conducting research in an Emergency Department, Psychiatric Inpatient unit, or other clinical setting
  • comfort discussing sensitive topics with vulnerable populations, 
  • previous experience with RedCap or Qualtrics

Full Time. Flexibility to work alternate schedules as needed to meet study needs will be expected. Your specific schedule will be determined in consultation with the Principal Investigator

This position may be underfilled at a lower classification depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third-party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.

In addition to the screenings indicated above under Michigan law, a criminal history check including fingerprinting is required as a condition of transfer or employment for this position.
