EACH has been successful in a funding bid to implement the Youth Enhanced Services (YES) program across the entire Eastern Primary Health Network catchment, with staff to be located at headspace Knox and the EACH office in Epping. YES provides support to young people aged 12 – 25 with complex and longstanding mental health issues, and their families.

The job

As a Psychiatrist, you will work in partnership with the YES Manager, Senior Clinical Coordinators and Clinical Lead to have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people. Your key deliverables will include:

  • Ensuring expert, high quality evidenced based health care is provided to young people.
  • Assisting clients with service navigation by acting as a service liaison between the YES and the Public Mental Health Service and Departments.
  • Completing primary assessments with young people.
  • Providing expert secondary clinical consultation advice to YES staff on diagnostic clarification, treatment recommendations and clinical case formulation.
  • Providing expert psychiatric assessment and treatment (including medication prescribing), clinical formulation and treatment recommendations under the 291 Medicare Benefit Scheme.

Who we are looking for

Our ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:

  • Registration as a medical practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists or equivalent.
  • Advanced Training in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.
  • Advanced clinical skills in client assessment, formulation, diagnosis, risk management, and treatment provision for young people aged 12-25 years old.
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership skills and experience.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge and experience in all aspects of psychiatry, and with substantial experience and expertise in clinical practice with young people experiencing mental disorders.
