WASEL TASEL was founded as a volunteer-based initiative in March 2015. It was born as a response to the displacement crisis that befell Iraq in recent years. We adhere to the four humanitarian principles (humanity, integrity, neutrality, and independence) when working with our beneficiaries, which include the displaced (IDPs), the Syrian refugees, and the host communities. Our new vision is focused on Education, Health, Development, Relief and Social Initiatives. On July 22, 2019, we became a registered IRAQI Non-Governmental Organization with certificate number 1I1907043 issued by the Department of Non-Governmental Organizations, General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers. Wasel Tasel Humanitarian Foundation management believe in women empowerment so %40 of the volunteers and employees are females. Our community center in Mosul city targeting programs of (Community cohesion, capacity and skills development for youth, agriculture and environment, education, health, livelihoods )

 

About The Project

Improving Educational Structures to Prevent Violent Extremism and Promote Social Cohesion in Areas of Return for Displaced Persons in Fallujah

Project Summary:

This project aims to strengthen the role of educational institutions in preventing violent extremism and building social cohesion in areas of return for displaced persons in Fallujah. The project focuses on building the capacity of school administrations and educational counselors to address the psychosocial challenges faced by students. It also promotes the use of extracurricular activities and art as tools for disseminating the values ​​of tolerance, peace, and social inclusion. Furthermore, the project contributes to strengthening cooperation between schools and community policing for early response to cases of violence and extremism. Finally, the project supports the creation of a safe and inclusive learning environment that contributes to sustainable community stability.

 

 

Responsibilities

1- Preparing a comprehensive training package covering the concepts of violent extremism, social cohesion, and the psychosocial needs of students in schools, particularly returnees.

2-Train teachers to increase the focus on cultural and artistic activities in schools to promote integration and reduce the risk of children returning from school dropout.

3-Training art education teachers to analyze students’ drawings to diagnose psychological crises and social problems, and develop a strategy to respond to indicators of school dropout.

4-Enabling art teachers to use drawing as a diagnostic tool to detect psychological problems among students (especially those returning from dropout), and to refer critical cases to educational counselors to provide appropriate psychological support.
