  1. Background

The Community Service Center (CSC) in Kirkuk provides holistic services to refugees, including legal assistance, psychosocial support (PSS), and specialized protection services. The Psychologist will offer critical mental health and psychosocial support to individuals and families affected by violence, helping them recover and reintegrate into their communities.

  1. Objective

The Psychologist will provide high-quality psychological services to survivors of violence, ensuring trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and client-centered care.

  1. Key Responsibilities
  1. Psychological Support Services
  • Conduct psychological assessments for individuals affected by violence.
  • Provide individual and group counseling sessions tailored to the needs of survivors.
  • Develop and implement personalized intervention plans to address trauma, stress, and related mental health concerns.
  • Community Engagement and Awareness
    • Facilitate awareness sessions on mental health, coping mechanisms, and available support services.
    • Engage with the community to reduce stigma surrounding mental health and encourage survivors to seek help.
  • Capacity Building
    • Train CSC staff and community workers on psychological first aid (PFA) and handling cases involving survivors of violence.
    • Support case workers and other team members in identifying and referring clients with mental health needs.
  • Referral and Coordination
    • Collaborate with case managers to ensure comprehensive care for survivors, including referrals to specialized services when needed.
    • Work closely with other service providers to ensure a multi-disciplinary approach to case management.
  • Monitoring and Reporting
    • Maintain detailed, confidential case records for all clients.
    • Submit regular reports on the number and type of sessions conducted, challenges encountered, and recommendations for improvement.
  • Adherence to Standards
    • Ensure all services are delivered in line with international standards (e.g., IASC Guidelines on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support) and organizational policies.

    Qualifications & Preferred Skills

    1. Qualifications
    • Education:
      • Degree in psychology, Clinical Psychology, or related field from a recognized institution.
    • Experience:
      • At least 3-5 years of experience providing mental health services to survivors of violence or in humanitarian settings.
      • Proven expertise in trauma counseling and working with displaced or conflict-affected populations.
    • Skills and Competencies:
      • Strong counseling and psychotherapy skills, particularly in trauma and violence recovery.
      • Knowledge of case management and referral pathways for survivors of violence.
      • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
