About the role

The Psychologist will provide professional clinical leadership through the provision of clinical assessment and treatment, advanced psychological interventions, consultative and educational services to enhance the treatment of substance use disorder and social functioning of clients. The position will provide professional supervision to staff and contribute to the development of quality assurance processes and practices. The position will provide secondary consultation to key stakeholder services and will work collaboratively with all clinical colleagues under the direction of a Team Leader.

About you

To be successful in this role you will possess:

  • Qualification and registration within the relevant professional discipline under the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Hold a Masters or Doctoral coursework qualification in Counselling or Clinical Psychology that has been approved by the Psychology Board of Australia
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working in a mental health and/or drug and alcohol setting as a fully registered psychologist
  • Demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge, assessment skills, treatment and case planning in Substance Use Disorders and co-existing mental health issues and evaluating client outcomes
  • Highly developed psychotherapeutic skills and knowledge of evidenced based practice
  • Excellent communication skills: written, verbal and interpersonal with demonstrated ability to collaborate and work as an effective team member at a local and organisational level to deliver organisational outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability to promote and model collaborative and respectful staff-staff and staff-client relationships and to reflect on and resolve interpersonal tensions and utilise clinical supervision within peer settings.
