Position Details

General Statement Montana State University Counseling and Psychological Services is seeking to fill senior staff psychologist position(s) for the 2024-25 year. The positions are full-time for 10 months (August – May). Summer (June and July) FTE is negotiable up to .5FTE. We are seeking generalists to provide multiculturally attuned services to students, faculty, and staff of the university. Candidates who are seeking supervision for licensure are welcome to apply. CPS is part of Student Wellness at MSU and works closely with partners in Student Health Services, Health Advancement, and Campus Recreation and all of these departments will be moving into a brand new facility, the Student Wellness Center, in March 2024.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provision of multi-culturally sensitive psychotherapy
  • Provision of intakes, individual, and group counseling
  • Crisis intervention
  • Outreach and consultation to the campus community
  • Development of a specific area of specialized clinical interest relevant to a college counseling setting
  • Participation in agency meetings and projects

Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
  • Doctorate in Clinical or Counseling psychology from an APA accredited program by start date.
  • Completion of a doctoral internship in psychology from an APA accredited internship program.
  • Licensed as a psychologist in the State of Montana or eligible to take the MT psychologist licensure exam no later than December 2025.
  • Demonstrated clinical skill and experience working with adults including crisis assessment and intervention.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to and support for diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
  • Licensed as a mental health professional in Montana.
  • Post-doctoral clinical experience.
  • Experience working in a university counseling center and/or demonstrated potential for the variety of tasks required.
  • Experience providing and outreach and consultation services on a university campus
  • Experience working on an integrated, multidisciplinary team.
  • Specific interest and/or experience in one of the following areas: clinical supervision and training, provision of clinical and outreach services to BIPOC and/or LGBTQIA students, experience working with American Indian and Indigenous students, substance abuse treatment, and provision of services to neurodivergent students.

    • Have the ability to complete documentation in a timely manner in accordance with agency policies and ethical standards.
    • Maintain confidentiality of records and information and follow all legal and ethical standards of psychologists.
    • Have the ability to use computer programs (including an electronic health record) to complete job duties and assist in agency functioning.
