General Purpose of the Position

The psychosocial support worker is creating relationship with people involved in JRS or not, so that their well-being and their ability to build a community improve. She/ supports JRS programs by (groups or individual) to beneficiaries on basic psychologic know-how and any other subjects that will support and improve their situation.

 

Works closely with the Project Director and Assistant Project Director, as well as the Sports Ground Coordinator, the social worker and the MHPSS team to support the ISIS Survivors group.

 Main Responsibilities of the Position 

A psychosocial support worker provides person-focused psychosocial support to clients and/or community-focused psychosocial support activities.

 A) Organization and planning of programs, activities, and sessions

  1. Facilitate and participate in the analyses of the beneficiaries/ existing psychosocial situation/cases, through transparent scoping activities regarding the psychosocial
  2. support in workshops, sessions, focus group discussions, questionnaires, data collection and analysis.
  3. Coordinate with the staff conducting the session to develop the available programs and make recommendations
  4. Effectively manage the programs/ sessions through planning for the topics and materials to be covered
  5. Organize, plan, and prioritize work related to psychosocial programs and activities
  6. Ensure activities and programs run according to the plan and best practices
  7. Offering basics information and support beneficiaries, eventually by orientating them to partners
  8. Provides group sessions for the beneficiaries or the MHPSS cases on topic related to MHPSS topics.
  9. Coordinates with other NGOs as well as with other institutes such schools to conduct awareness sessions.
  10. To be able for field visits in to needed evaluations that my request by MHPSS staff.
  11. working closely with MHPSS team to support the activities related to ISIS survivor children such as outing, group therapy, art therapy, sport activates…etc

 

B) Initiative and Creativity 

  1. Develop and implement ideas for psychosocial programs for JRS beneficiaries: youth, women, men, children and vulnerable groups in targeted sites.
  2. Finding to relate to the beneficiaries so they are considered as partner of their improvement (co-designing/building/leading activities, training etc.).
  3. Participate in the development of capacity building materials enhancing the psychosocial support and wellbeing of the group
  4. Assessing some needs of the persons beneficiaries or not by observing the person’s behaviour;
  5. Make recommendation on which training, and for which reason, we should undertake for the good of the beneficiaries.

C) Reporting: 

  1. Prepare and submit data for required reports -monthly reports, quarterly – and update them as required by the Project Director and/or Program Officer;
  2. Follow-up the beneficiaries situation, and report when you notice a change (positive or negative) to the appropriate person;
  3. Collect some stories, pictures that might be insightful for others
  4. Participate to the team weekly meeting.

 

Availability

Undertakes any other duties as assigned by the Project Director that are within the ambit of the position.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Qualifications, skills and attributes

  • Compassion and commitment for refugees, IDPs and other displaced persons;
  • Energetic, hard-working, honest and self-motivated person;
  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Social Worker or Psychology or equivalent;
  • At least 1 year of experience in working as a trainer;
  • Trained in, and has proven competence in, values and ethics, interviewing techniques and skills, active listening skills, principles and procedures of case management, documentation, Psychological First Aid, and referral pathways
  • Previous experience with NGO is an asset;
  • Trustworthy, good listener, creative, flexible, detail oriented, and can maintain confidentiality;
  • Good interpersonal and problem-solving skills;
  • Good written and oral communication skills in both Kurdish and English. Arabic is an asset;
  • Computer literate : Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams and Share Point;
  • Strong ability to work in a team, organise work, meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Ability to share the difficulties so that we may be able to share the work better;
