Would you be interested in building and managing a visitor and education programme for
one of the wildest and most elemental estates in England?

Location: Northumberland, United Kingdom
Salary: £34-38,000 pro rata
Hours: Part time role, 20 hours a week
Contract: Fixed-term contract for two years.

College Valley Estate owns almost 13,000 acres in North Northumberland that includes the summit
of the Cheviot on the Anglo-Scots border and the haughs below the ancient Anglo-Saxon
settlement of Yeavering. It is a place rich in nature, history and is run to deliver both
ecological wonder and educational and visitor engagement. Click here for more information. The College Valley is
looking for a highly self-motivated and organised Project Developer to design, build and run a
program of experiences, both commercial and charitable that fit with the ambition and values of
the company. 

What is the role? 

You will be responsible for conceptualizing, planning and implementing programs that deliver
real and long-lasting value to our visitors. You will be expected to work closely with partner
organisations, including the Northumberland National Park, the Sir James Knott Trust charity in
Newcastle (which is linked to College Valley) and local community groups like the Guides,
Scouts and local wildlife and archaeological societies. You will report directly to the CVE
Board and deliver concise reports detailing your plans, budgets and activities in relation to
whether they are meeting the long-term strategy that you will build with the board.

Experience and skills: 

  • Program development, event management, or related roles within the tourism, hospitality, or
    cultural sectors.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet
    deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of Northumberland’s cultural heritage, natural attractions, and tourism industry
    is desirable.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedules.
