To qualify for the apprenticeship, applicants should not have prior qualifications in public health or a degree in any subject nor work in a public health role.We are seeking to appoint a Public Health Apprentice for a position in the Public Health Team.You’ll be part of big changes in Barnsley, to make it the place of possibilities. We’re committed to promoting wellbeing and tackling health inequalities in our communities.We have a range of interesting public health projects for you to get involved in. This includes work to help residents improve heart health, reduce obesity, stop smoking, or reduce their alcohol intake. There may also be an opportunity to work elsewhere in the public health system, with some of our partner organisations.You’ll be keen to learn and able to work as part of a hardworking team, who have residents at the heart of everything they do.Main duties of the role include:· Supporting the public health unit by delivering, evaluating, and reporting on programs, alerting staff of concerns, and building community capacity for health initiatives.· Presenting health information to various audiences, following policies and standards, maintaining high care standards, and helping colleagues meet requirements.· Safeguarding welfare, coordinating activities, and performing other requested duties.As part of the apprenticeship, you will be working towards a BSc (Hons) Public Health / Public Health Practitioner Degree Apprenticeship qualification.We ask for a professional attitude to work and a willingness to learn and to take responsibility.As an Apprentice with the Council, you will be fully supported to develop your skills, experience, and qualifications.We’d welcome the opportunity to discuss the post further with you.
