Public Health Epidemiologist

1. Objectives

• Strengthen epidemiological surveillance, particularly for emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases.
• Conduct public health research and data analysis to guide CRD’s health policies and interventions.
• Provide expert advice on outbreak response and prevention strategies to reduce public health risks.

2. Key Responsibilities

• Data Collection and Analysis
  • Design and conduct epidemiological studies, surveys, and health assessments.
  • Analyze complex data sets to identify disease patterns, risk factors, and health outcomes.
• Surveillance and Reporting
  • Develop and maintain surveillance systems for tracking infectious and non-communicable diseases.
  • Prepare regular epidemiological reports to inform CRD’s public health strategies.
• Outbreak Investigation and Response
  • Lead outbreak investigations, coordinating with local health authorities and response teams.
  • Provide evidence-based recommendations to contain disease outbreaks and prevent recurrence.
• Research and Publication
  • Design and conduct public health research, publishing findings in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Stay updated on global and regional epidemiological trends and contribute to CRD’s knowledge base.
• Capacity Building and Training
  • Develop training materials and conduct epidemiology and public health workshops for CRD staff and local health workers.
  • Mentor junior epidemiologists and public health interns as needed.

3. Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in epidemiology or public health research.
• Strong analytical skills with expertise in statistical software (e.g., R, SAS, or SPSS) and GIS tools.
• Experience with outbreak response and public health surveillance systems.
• Excellent communication and report-writing skills.

4. Competencies

• Strong epidemiological knowledge, particularly regarding infectious diseases.
• Ability to work independently in high-stress situations, especially during health crises.
• Proficiency in English and Arabic Language.
