At the Emory Centers for Public Health Training and Technical Assistance (Emory Centers), we help our clients and their partners develop the professional skills, evidence-based programs, and policy action needed to build healthier communities. Housed within the Rollins School of Public Health, Emory Centers provides innovative trainings, technical assistance, and materials to build the knowledge and skills to foster strong leadership, increase organizational capacity, and strengthen partnerships. Our clients include state and local departments of health, non-profit organizations, and foundations. Our services span across all public health issues, risk factors, and professional competencies. Our four dedicated subcenters have provided capacity-building and community mobilization services in all 50 states and territories over the last 20 years. JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Under limited supervision, uses a basic knowledge of public health principles to analyze, develop, implement, and promote new and creative strategies and solutions to address public health issues and challenges.
  • Addresses public health issues by providing education, technical assistance, advocacy, public awareness, and research. Works with programs or studies designed to evaluate the prevalence or surveillance of public health issues and the effectiveness of targeted interventions.
  • May provide technical assistance to organizations to include presentations, web-based resources, strategies, and educational forums to address specific public health issues.
  • May work with clinical study sites on patient recruitment and data collection standards.
  • Assists with data collection and data analysis.
  • Contributes to proposals, protocols, data analysis plans, reports, manuscripts, and presentation of study findings.
  • May assist in designing, developing, and conducting targeted training initiatives.
  • May collaborate with external organizations to develop action plans and goals to achieve specific objectives.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include:

  • Serves as a training coordinator within core diabetes areas to coordinate training and TA needs, and designs appropriate delivery format, frequency and learning level
  • Works with subject matter experts to deliver high quality training and TA
  • Assists in designing and developing educational materials, toolkits, support resources and tools, trainings, workshops, curriculum, and web-based products for various public health programs
  • Assists in delivery of e-learning peer networks, online learning communities
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements:

  • This position requires public health skills, with specific experience in training coordination both for online and in person delivery, project management, and implementation support.
  • Experience coordinating trainings- virtual and in-person
  • Working with virtual teams via online group meeting software, and comfort with learning systems and technologies
  • Demonstrated skill in relationship management and project management

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A master’s degree in Public Health, a master of science degree in Public Health or Health Education, OR a master’s degree in Development Practice OR a master’s degree in another field and one year of public health experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience working in the National Diabetes Prevention Program and/or diabetes self- management programs
  • Experience with learning management systems
  • Experience working with diverse individuals and populations

NOTE: Tasks related to this position can be performed remotely with only occasional visits to an Emory University location.
