This position is located in the Advocacy Section (AS), Public Affairs and Policy Support Branch (PAB), Division of Policy Analysis and Public Affairs (DPA), United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the Public Information Officer and overall guidance of Chief, Advocacy Section.

Responsibilities
• Assist with the design and production of creative, engaging and high-quality graphic solutions, including visualization of data as identified by the responsible content creator – intended for various audiences – that support the whole spectrum of UNODC communications using tools including, but not limited to: Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Canva and other graphic design applications. Produce motion graphics using tools including but not limited to: Canva, Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects.
• Help manage, update, and further develop internal basic databases; update web site,; assist in web design, development and maintenance of Internet applications; generate a variety of standard and non-standard statistical and other reports from various databases.
• Create web content using a Content Management System and edit implementations by using, among others, Adobe DreamWeaver, and programming languages like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP.
• Participate in full design processes and finalizing layouts for production and distribution across a variety of communication channels. This includes the creation of draft designs, typesetting and pre-press preparation among others. Follow up on all design and all produced materials to ensure it adheres to organizational branding and style guidelines, including accessibility guidelines.
• Ensure that photos, graphics, etc. are appropriate and conform to the United Nations standards for all materials.
• Maintain an awareness of trends and best practices in graphic design and communications.
• Assist with the collection and analysis of data as well as preparation of data presentations and reports for information sharing, responding to queries, knowledge management, planning and decision making.
• Assist with visualizations and updating information material such as web pages or brochures.
• Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

Work Experience
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible and relevant professional work experience in public communication, and in the production of professional design work is required. The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced to 3 for candidates who possess a first-level university degree or higher.
Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects, Final Cut Pro, Content Management Systems are required.
Experience using HTML, JavaScript and PHP is desirable.
Experience preparing designs for social media platforms is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of other United Nations official languages is an advantage.
