Responsibilities
Under the general supervision of the Chief of the Communication Section and the Chief of EPS, the incumbent: • Coordinates the development and implementation of OHCHR’s social media content production, multimedia in particular, in line with OHCHR’s objectives and priorities, including messaging, audience identification and choice of social media platforms; works closely with internal teams to understand project goals and translate these into detailed, creative work plans, including video scripts and content gathering documents. • Translates information from OHCHR news, stories, reports and other resources into compelling graphic and multimedia elements (quote cards, infographics, and typographic designs); creates storyboard, film, and edit video and animated content for diverse platforms, adapting visual content to enhance digital engagement with OHCHR communications priorities • In liaison with other Communications Section units and other parts of the Office, coordinates, designs, plans and prioritises the multimedia production and publishing of highly shareable visual content, i.e. live video features, infographics, digital cards, Graphics Interchange Format (GIFs), photography that support and engages audiences to ensure full coverage of and strategic alignment with OHCHR’s activities.
• Prospects and implements multimedia partnerships; develops relationships with digital influencers; proposes and implements digital marketing plans, including digital advertisement, in support of OHCHR’s activities and campaigns; and works to engage and mobilize online audiences such as community and lifestyle media • Ensures consistent messaging and branding, quality control and a coherent user experience across OHCHR multimedia products. • Makes recommendations and provides technical advice to team members and other OHCHR staff, including in the field, on best practices in the use of multimedia tools to promote human rights, disseminate news, implement campaigns and establish multimedia partnerships; and advises on appropriate responses to social media feedback and interaction. • Monitors and benchmarks OHCHR multimedia products and campaigns, and captures and analyses appropriate social data/metrics, insights and best practices to support continuous improvement of OHCHR digital presence. • Keeps abreast of emerging trends and innovations in the digital field and makes recommendations for new opportunities to expand or enhance the Office’s social media presence. • Performs other related duties as required by the Chief of the Communications Section

Education
Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in communication, journalism, international relations, public administration or related field. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Work Experience
A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in public information, journalism, international relations, public administration or related area is required. At least three years of dedicated experience managing social media channels in a professional context is required. Experience in producing multimedia content for digital platforms, such as Adobe CC (Adobe Premiere Pro, XD, Photoshop, AfterEffects), and non-Adobe software like Sketch is required. Experience delivering digital campaigns, including advocacy and engagement is required. Experience in international affairs and familiarity with the UN system or international organizations is desirable. Experience with analysis of social data/metrics, insights and best practices in digital outreach monitoring is desirable. Experience in management is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the UN Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English (both oral and written) is required. Knowledge of French is desirable. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
