Through advising and collaborating with c-suite stakeholders, we develop solutions that are tailored to their needs under-pinned by a user-centric and data-driven approach to delivery. We operate in a range of markets including Energy, Water, Highways, Aviation, Rail and Cities.We are currently recruiting for a Principal Technical Advisor to join our PPP Advisory team based in Birmingham or London. You’ll join a team of advisors and experts with a diverse range of background and experiences and join projects delivering advice to clients across our service markets.One of the biggest advantages of our team is the breadth of work that we do; you will be working with multi-disciplinary teams across the range of our Advisory Services while working collaboratively with our sector specific teams. Our work broadly falls into the following services: Grantor Technical Advisor, helping our clients to shape projects from inception to delivery; Lenders’ Technical Advisor, helping our clients to ensure projects are bankable and deliverable, from tender to construction, and operation to handback; PPP Technical Advisory, working with Concessionaires to provide technical advice to PPP projects.At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective – in which we encourage individuality to thrive. We expect our senior staff to also help shape our work and teams to deliver excellence for our clients. We would expect you to be involved with work winning, project delivery and to lead tasks and teams. We would also expect you to be flexible and work in an agile way for our clients.The successful candidate will be technical expert with excellent analysis and report writing skills. Capable in leading work with clients alongside leading projects and tasks and contributing as part of a multi-disciplinary team to develop presentations and reports. You will be passionate about Learning continuously, adapting to new tasks, and working on different types of problems and solutions. Supporting us as we grow our team capability and services, and developing junior staff members will also feature within this role.The following qualifications, skills and experience are desired for the successful candidate;

  • Professional Qualification with a relevant institution;
  • Applying research and data analysis approaches to provide evidence-based advice and insights for clients;
  • Background in a client-facing role within an engineering consultancy firm or experience working within an infrastructure owner/operator;
  • Project delivery team leadership experience; a track record of successfully forming and managing agile multi-disciplinary teams;
  • Proven business writing, research, communication, and organisational skills; including the ability to deliver complex work to time and budget;
  • Supporting business development and work winning activities.
