NUAA is a peer-led organisation aimed at promoting the health, human rights and dignity of people who use or have used drugs. We are known for innovative, peer-led harm reduction services in music festivals, community settings, correctional centres and our fixed site NSP. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Publications Coordinator will be responsible for:

  • Working with the communications team, develop a strategy to increase the reach, diversity and effectiveness of NUAA publications and resources (print and online)
  • Educate people in custodial centres on health and well-being with a focus on the prevention, testing and treatment of hepatitis C through the production and promotion of Insiders News
  • Contribute to the content of the Users News website
  • Liaise with funders, community and expert stakeholders to develop and test NUAA resources
  • Ensure that NUAA publications are completed with clear and transparent consultation and development processes
  • Evaluate and improve the reach and effectiveness of Insiders News and NUAA resources
  • Support the development of NUAA policies and procedures
  • Represent NUAA at external forums
  • Other duties as directed

SELECTION CRITERIA

ESSENTIAL:

  1. Demonstrated understanding of the issues facing people with lived/living experience of drug use:
    • Provide evidence of a deep comprehension of the challenges and concerns that individuals with lived/living experience of drug use may face.
    • Highlight any relevant professional or personal experience that demonstrates your sensitivity and understanding of this specific demographic.
  2. Background in Communications/Media:
    • Outline your professional background in communications and media, emphasising relevant roles, responsibilities and achievements.
    • Specify any experience working with or advocating for issues related to drug use through communication and media channels.
  3. Good Writing Ability, able to write in plain English:
    • Showcase examples of your writing, ensuring clarity, simplicity, and effectiveness.
    • Provide evidence of your ability to communicate complex issues in plain English, especially in context related to drug use and associated challenges.
  4. Collaborative Approach to All Work, Able to Take on board Feedback:
    • Describe instances where you successfully collaborated with diverse teams, acknowledging the contributions of others.
    • Provide examples of how you have incorporated constructive feedback into your work, demonstration flexibility and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  5. Proven Ability to Plan, Execute and Oversee Projects Effectively, Consistently Delivering on Time and Within Budget:
    • Outline specific projects you have managed, highlighting your role in planning, execution and oversight.
    • Emphasise instances where you delivered projects on time and within budget, showcasing your organisational and project management skills.
  6. Ability to Think Creatively and Strategically Coupled with Strong Problem Solving Skills:
    • Present examples of situations where you employed creative and strategic thinking to address challenges effectively.
    • Detail specific problems you have encountered and resolved, showcasing your analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

    • Provide examples of projects or tasks you have undertaken independently, detailing your level of autonomy and responsibility.
