Penguin Michael Joseph, a leading commercial fiction and non-fiction imprint of Penguin Random House is seeking a proactive and collaborative Publicity Manager to join their team.

The role
As an experienced publicist, you’ll be working across a range of genres, whether debuting the very latest authors to expanding the readership of household names like Marian Keyes, Jojo Moyes, Nadiya Hussain and Stephen Fry.

You’ll work closely authors (both high profile and debut, fiction and non-fiction), agents, as well as colleagues in editorial, marketing and sales, so we’re looking for someone with strong communication skills who is strategic, creative and unflappable; with experience of managing multiple stake holders.

Who we’re looking for:

We’re keen to hear from people who love and want to work with books, although this doesn’t necessarily require a publishing background. We’re interested in a range of experience, so it may be that you’re a successful publicist working in the arts or popular culture, or perhaps at an agency. What’s important to us is that you have a demonstrable understanding and background in publicity, independently producing standout and strategic campaigns. You’ll also:

Have established media contacts and be knowledgeable on all forms of media including broadcast, print, online and social media

Be someone who thrives engaging with online communities, influencers, and upcoming trends.

Work well under pressure, be highly organised with excellent time management to juggle concurrent campaigns

Have some experience of organising events

Have outstanding communication skills to be able to pitch ideas and report back to multiple stake holders

Demonstrate analytical ability and financial awareness for your campaigns

Think outside the box for new and innovate ways to create buzz behind our books

Importantly, you’ll be able to show us that you’re passionate about commercial fiction and non-fiction and have an eagerness to get our books into as many readers’ hands as possible.

Salary: Circa £35,000 depending on how your experience and skills align to the role, plus bonus and benefits.

For this role we expect you to come into the office in Embassy Gardens three days a week, with Wednesday being a core team day.
