Vulnerability Assessment on Climate Displacement in Southern Iraq
Première Urgence Internationale (PUI) is launching a project to address the vulnerabilities arising from climate displacement in Southern governorates of Iraq (Thi-Qar, Missan, Muthanna, Qadissiya and Basrah). The assessment will focus on the areas most affected by climate-change and will aim to understand and document climate-change related vulnerabilities, including displacement.
This assessment will gather comprehensive data on the socio-economic factors contributing to vulnerability, such as poverty and inadequate infrastructure, coping capacities, as well as existing coping and adaptation strategies. It will also review the legal and policy frameworks related to displacement and protection mechanisms, providing a holistic understanding of the current context and gaps.
Through this assessment, PUI seeks to develop an evidence-based operationalization plan that addresses the identified needs in an integrated and contextualized manner, ultimately contributing to more effective and sustainable humanitarian interventions in Southern Iraq.
