Duties and Responsibilities
In accordance with Agency policy and procedures, the incumbent: • Assists Field Electromechanical Engineer with all UNRWA Photo Voltaic (PV) solar projects initiating, managing, monitoring, evaluating and reporting in all UNRWA installations, ensuring Field’s PV projects align with the Agency’s standards and instructions from ICID, HQA and Design Section HQ(G), that reflects relevant strategy and industry best practices in the electrical and solar domain. • Supports in the assessments of the site’s conditions, including residential or commercial solar power systems, to facilitate the work of design team, including collecting structural, electrical, and related information. • Implements the designs works of photovoltaic (PV) solar systems, which may include amendments in the design, BoQ, cost estimate and TOR in coordination with the Design team at HQs. • Monitors and supervise the solar system projects, ensure compliance with the projects design and other project documents, includes providing technical direction or support to installation teams; checks and valuates the performed works to release payments. • Creates electrical single-line diagrams, panel schedules, connection diagrams or graphical representation for solar electric systems, using related software. • Provides advise on energy saving techniques, such as water heater wraps, pipe insulation, weather-stripping, door sweeps, or low flow showerheads, and monitors their installation, if accepted; answers questions on relevant topics such as the costs of running or the selection of energy efficient appliances. • Conducts technical evaluation of photovoltaic projects (on grid , off grid ) & ( Wheeling ), including performance and costing issues, and provides advise on alternative to the supervisor. • In coordination with the supervisor, contacts electricity utility company and regulatory authorities with regard to solar PV projects, to facilitate project’s installation and operation. • Perform other duties as required
Qualifications/special skills
• BSc in power electrical engineering or Energy Technologies. • At least five years’ experience in PV solar energy projects (on grid & off grid) & wheeling project Competencies • Ability to maintain good working relationship with users and work within team environment. • Good Communication (both written& verbal) skills • Ability to prioritize and Evaluate work. • Ability to work under pressure. • Ability to take initiative and produce sound professional judgment. • Knowledge of photovoltaic system in local & international Markets
