Quantity SurveyorQuantity Surveyor – Shop Fitting£40,000 – £60,000NottinghamA highly sought-after opportunity to work with a well-established shop fitting company based out of Nottingham who have been trading for over 15 years. Due to the amount of work recently won and new projects being taken on, my client has identified the need for a new Quantity Surveyor.The successful candidate must have proven experience working on Shop Fitting projects.The types of clients you will be working for are:
- Lacoste
- Ikea
- Home Bargains
- Pret A Manger
- The Rugby Store
The DutiesYour key responsibilities will include:
- Report back to the Directors key aspects of the QS function of the business in an agreed format.
- Develop accounts with existing and new clients in close liaison with the Directors.
- Analyse job appraisals to determine the accuracy of estimating standards, and report variances to the Directors.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the contracts team, site agents, sub-contractors, and all other employees.
- Manage the QS function. Provide advice and support, post and pre contract.
- Monitor project costs from pre-contract to final account agreement.
- Contract law – review and assess risk on framework agreements plus contract documentation and provide feedback to Directors.
- Analyse tenders and job specifications to ensure all required information for calculating.
- Costs are included. Communicate with client, architects, consultants and / or contracts team for clarification as required.
- Calculate the final figure for the estimated cost, supplemented by adjustments for overheads and profit, presenting a tender price.
- Compile estimates for projects/tenders as per the agreed format.
- Carry out negotiations with sub-contract trades for achievement of best cost of value.
- Refine specifications to provide for better production, lower costs, and better suitability to meet job requirements.
- Award orders in agreement with the contracts team and purchasing manager based on the time required, price, and quality of work.
- Where necessary survey sites to ensure familiarity with the work being carried out and the environment.
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with third-party consultants, architects, building control, sub-contractors, etc.
- Produce all cost information, sub-contract quotations, and labour analysis for handover to the Contracts Manager.
The Requirements
- Proven Quantity Surveying experience working on Shop Fitting projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and costs.
- Excellent analytical and numerical skills.
- Proficient in using estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
