Job Title: Quantity SurveyorLocation: EastchurchSalary: £30k – £65kHours of Work: 8am – 4:30pmType: PermanentStart Date: Immediately (flexible for notice periods)We are hiring for a pro-active, enthusiastic, Quantity Surveyor who can prioritise a heavy workload and become a part of a growing business. Ideally you will have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a role as a QS in the construction industry. Although a Degree in Quantity Surveying is not essential, it is preferable. Who can work with a multi- disciplined contractor specialising in civil engineering, groundworks, rail, and utilities.Duties of a Quantity Surveyor

  • Assist in effective commercial control of projects
  • Challenge and support to identify best value solutions
  • Build and manage effective supply chain relationships
  • Build and maintain effective and professional Client relationships
  • The identification & procurement of suitable sub-contractors.
  • The negotiation & letting of subcontracts within required timescales.
  • Providing the cost-data feedback to directors and senior management.
  • Be aware of new materials and methods of construction which the business may employ.
  • Administration & management of the financial aspects of the development of projects.
  • Reviewing and forecasting the latest cost estimates and reporting.
  • Measuring from drawings.
  • Prepare tenders and procure sub-contractors, goods and materials.
  • Up to date knowledge on codes of practice that impact on estimating e.g. Building Regulations, NHBC requirements and HSE.
  • Contribute to the delivery of monthly CVR meetings.
  • Complete any other duties as required by the Directors/Commercial Manager.

Skills and experience of a Quantity SurveyorSound IT skills, including a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, in particular strong Excel skills.

  • Previous responsibility for issuing project and contract communications
  • A solid understanding of NEC/Standard form of contracts.
  • Ability to undertake civil measures without supervision.
  • Experience in pricing civil works, either at tender stage or post contract stage.
  • Experience in groundworks estimates.

Quantity Surveying: Minimum experience of 3 years.· Construction BTEC/HNC Qualified.· Experience in assisting with Applications for payments.· Experience in assisting with pricing variations to contracted works.· Previous exposure to attending client meetings.· A basic understanding of construction contracts.· Exposure or an interest in light to medium civil works.· Ability to undertake civil measures with limited supervision.· CSCS CardWhat the client offers a Quantity Surveyor
