You will deliver commercial support, expertise and knowledge from pre-contract development stage through to final account for a portfolio of transmission network engineering and construction projects.Assess monthly contractor measures by interfacing with various team members and agree a financial sum for works completedLead commercial meetings with contractors to agree costs and mitigate the impact of changes to the contract sumRecord all contractual and commercial information associated with the project(s) within project files and commercial databases or other systems applicableMonitor and implement all contractual obligations with respect to notifications, payments and responsesAssess variations and claims including interfacing with various departments (legal, Engineering, Environmental, project Management) to understand cause & SPT liabilityMake commercial recommendations (including risks) to the business to assist with the decision-making process with respect to variations and claimsAssist with initial budget estimates and detailed cost plans for future tenders and agree timelines with key stakeholdersDevelop ITT packs and subsequently evaluate contractor commercial bids then support tender interviews and selectionAssess how the QS functions operationally and proactively submit proposals for improvementAssist with drafting and managing contracts (NEC, FIDIC, bespoke)What you’ll bringProven ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across diverse stakeholder groupsAbility to work collaboratively with legal, engineering, environmental, and project management teamsAbility to respond quickly and flexibly to emerging problems, prioritising effectively under pressureExperience in managing competing deadlines while maintaining high standards of accuracyCommercial awareness and understanding of contract management principles (NEC, FIDIC)Confidence in making recommendations that balance risk and opportunity for the businessProactive mindset with a continuous improvement approach to Quantity Surveying functionsFamiliarity with commercial databases and project management systemsStrong numerical and analytical skills, with a detail-oriented approachExcellent communication and negotiation skillsAs a minimum, you will demonstrate:Degree in Quantity Surveying, or equivalent experienceExperience of QS in a construction environmentExpertise working on FIDIC & NEC.Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applicationsAwareness of construction legislationFull UK Driving LicenceWhat’s in it for youAs well as a competitive salary which is reviewed annually, you can also enjoy a number of other benefits.
