Position Description:
Our Rangeland Data & Stewardship Specialists are essential to our team and conduct rangeland monitoring and data entry to support land managers striving to sustain or achieve regenerative status across a variety of landscapes – open forests, sagebrush steppes, short-grass prairies, and riparian areas. All technicians will be trained in and practice two separately established rangeland monitoring methods.  

Rangeland Data & Stewardship Specialists travel extensively within the Great Plains and Rocky Mountain region, with potential travel to other regions. Your contributions will be instrumental in supporting managers in achieving their land management goals. This entry-level position offers opportunities for professional growth with a strong emphasis on rangeland monitoring. As part of a rapidly expanding team, this position also provides an opportunity to grow with the company and take on additional projects.  

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Collect and manage field data for effective reporting to clients.
  • Assist with planning rangeland monitoring excursions, including scheduling, travel, and equipment management.
  • Help coordinate and execute field days, including navigating across large ranches
  • Provide feedback and solicit additional information and clarification as necessary to ranchers and SnapLands staff.

Key Qualifications and Skills:

  • Professional communication (oral and written) with team members and rural land and livestock managers.
  • Bring a friendly, adaptive and professional attitude to all aspects of your work.
  • Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing conditions and to service clients and scheduling needs
  • Computer and technology literacy (Microsoft Excel, Word, Powerpoint & Google Drive).
  • Enjoyment of traveling in diverse terrain and respecting diverse peoples of all demographics.
  • Ability to travel away from home for extended periods, such as 2-weeks or more.
  • Work proficient and professionally while kneeling, lifting over 50 pounds, walking long distances, and working long days outside in varying weather conditions.
  • Proficiency in using GPS or mobile devices to navigate terrain when out of service.
  • Confidently navigate vast, backcountry terrain using ATVs or 4-wheel drive vehicles.
  • Positive, Self-motivated problem-solving, team-player mentality and a strong work ethic.
  • Self-discipline, strong organization, acute attention to detail, and punctuality.

Preferred but not required:

  • Wilderness first aid, extensive camping experience, or the like.
  • Ranching experience and/or comfortability in rural settings.

Additional Requirements:

  • Successful completion of a drug test.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Satisfactory results from a criminal background check.
  • Willingness to use personal vehicle for client-related travel. Mileage reimbursed according to IRS rate.
