Job Role Summary

This project is funded by the Government’s Species Survival Fund. The fund was developed by
Defra and its Arm’s-Length Bodies. It is being delivered by The National Lottery Heritage Fund
in partnership with Natural England and the Environment Agency. It supports the creation and
restoration of wildlife-rich habitats throughout the Medlock Valley in Manchester, Oldham and
Tameside. The project is a significant milestone in Groundwork’s ambition to deliver large
scale nature recovery projects, supporting Greater Manchester’s Local Nature Recovery Strategy.

The Ranger Supervisor will have responsibility for leading the work of a small team of
site-based trainees and Rangers, for planning and overseeing the work of the team as well
developing their practical skills and knowledge relating to land management and preparing them
for a career in the environmental or landscape sector.

They will also have responsibility for the day-to-day organisation, planning and delivery of
the programme of work on each site in line with agreed plans and specifications, as well as,
involvement in community volunteering on these sites.
