Background
The Republic of Moldova joined the United Nations (UN) in 1992. Since then, the United Nations system supports the Republic of Moldova in achieving its major development goals and fulfilling its vision to be a prosperous and modern European country.
UN House in Moldova hosts 5 UN agencies: UNDP, UNICEF, UNFPA, UNAIDS, OHCHR.
In the context of UN Diversity Initiative (accessibility project), UNDP pilots the process of UN House building adjustment to PwDs needs.
Much of this work is carried out through joint programming, which strengthens the voice of the UN, offering essential opportunities to present a unified front on critical discrimination / gender issues.
Who can apply?
This internship position seeks to target persons belonging to marginalized groups, who are underrepresented at the national labor market and particularly: Women and men with diverse gender identities, persons with disabilities, people living with HIV, LGBTIQ people, ethno-linguistic, cultural and religious minorities, refugees, migrants, other marginalized groups.
Applicants to the UNDP internship programme must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements:
- Be enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme (such as a master’s programme, or higher);
- Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (such as bachelor’s degree or equivalent);
- Have recently graduated with a university degree (as defined in (a) and (b) above) and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation;
- Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program and undertake the internship as part of this program.
Eligibility requirements:
- Completion of secondary education is a must.
Duties and Responsibilities
Key responsibilities:
- Provide support in keeping track of UN House incoming and outgoing correspondence;
- Making publications on Social Media on Jobs/Tenders updates;
- Creating various Excel databases;
- Storage and arranging financial and administrative documents;
- Assisting UN House visitors with their inquiries/ handling incoming calls;
- Provide logistical support for events and personnel movements;
- Keeping track of UN Conference Room bookings;
Other duties assigned by Mentor.

Required Skills and Experience
Minimum qualifications / skills:
- Good verbal and written communication skills;
- Ability to work well with diverse groups of people;
- Comfortable in talking and interacting with others;
- Attentive to details and fast learner;
- Good time management skills; able to schedule activities and observe their timely accomplishment;
- Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.);
- Languages: Fluency in Romanian or Russian, both oral and written. Fluency in English – is an advantage, but is not mandatory.
- Knowledge of one of the following Moldova’s minority languages is a great advantage: Gagauzian, Bulgarian, Romani, Ukrainian, sign language.
Internship package and working conditions:
- Friendly atmosphere at the Office;
- The intern will have a dedicated working space equipped with a computer, Internet and landline phone access, advice and logistical support from the staff of Operations Unit for undertaking the activities related to the internship;
- Access to office supplies, printer, coffee and tea;
- Urban transportation costs (in case of an intern with reduced mobility) – will be covered, in case of necessity;
- This internship is not a paid position.

- 1 – 2 recommendation letters (from supervisor, teacher, colleagues or any other person who can describe your competencies)
- Information on the additional / special needs the person might have such as reasonable accommodation at the workplace, transportation, food or any other specific needs.
Note: Internship requires an intern to work 15-20 hours per week in the UN House office, meaning that the position is part-time.
Upon completion of the internship, the intern receives a certificate from UNDP.
