Position Overview
WFP Somalia Country Office is looking for an IT solutions Officer to be based at the country office in Mogadishu, Somalia. He/she will provide technical expertise in the design and development of efficient and innovative integrated IT solutions meeting WFP’s business needs and standards.
As part of the TEC team, the IT Solutions Officer will report to the Head of TEC
What will you do?
- Develop and deploy IT systems aligned with business needs ensuring compliance with WFP IT policies, procedures and overall information management strategy.
- Participate in identifying business needs and propose well-researched ideas (by maintaining up-to-date knowledge of technology products) for new or improved systems and solutions that assist in meeting WFP objectives.
- Lead and motivate a small team, monitoring performance, providing coaching, training and guidance to ensure appropriate development and enable high performance.
- Represent the Country Office on discussions, projects and ongoing initiatives ensuring business requirements are captured as well as active participation in data sharing initiatives at the Country Office providing required TEC input.
- Write detailed technical specifications for incoming and existing applications ensuring traceability back to source requirements. Adopt technical documentation for them for quality, accuracy and comprehensive coverage of functionality.
- Install, configure and customize IT systems, integrate and migrate data between systems ensuring compliance with WFP’s IT standards, guidelines and procedures.
- Adhere to existing applications to WFP standards and follow the entire release process providing early life support and managing incoming developments; maintain and support these solutions for proper use.
- Maintain Customer Relationship Management / Common Feedback Mechanism CRM/CFM solution at the County Office, ensuring corporate compliance.
- Provide support to users, analyse and resolve issues and enhance IT systems following IT policies, procedures and standards.
- Deliver training on new and existing IT functionalities and provide continuous user support while demonstrating capacity building of national staff.
- Work with a Data Analyst to collate and analyze data to contribute to the preparation of accurate reports on IT activities, investments and costs, identifying ideas to increase cost-efficiencies where possible.
- Engage with business units to identify, design and implement business process automation tools using Office365, EasyVISTA or customized source code.
- Develop flows according to corporate guidelines hosted on the corporate Sharepoint site adopting low code or no code where possible.
- Liaise with vendor technical teams and coordinate existing and new software developments by providing SDLC technical recommendations and guidelines that will ensure their quality or adherence to WFP corporate standards and tools; manage their reliability where hosted – Amazon AWS, MS Azure or other hosting environments; assure vendor LTAs and SLAs providing support to solutions currently hosted in these environments.
- Oversee transition of on-premises applications to cloud infrastructure.
- Frequent travel from the Country Office to field locations, promoting a decentralized model.
- Perform other ICT-related duties as assigned.
Do you meet the minimum requirements?
- Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in Computer Science, engineering or other relevant field, or First University degree with additional years of related work experience or trainings/courses.
- A minimum of 5 year’s experience in the development of flows and automation, applications, and/or databases.
- Has collated data and prepared reports on IT/TC investment and costs to facilitate decision-making by stakeholders.
Are you competent for the job? Do you have:-
- Advanced training and/or experience in software development, business analysis and client support.
- General knowledge of UN system policies, rules, regulations and procedures.
Language
- International Professional: Fluency (proficiency/level C) in the English language.
