For every child, sustenance

Being Guatemala a country with a huge nutritional problem since half of children under five are malnourished and half of women are overweight/obese, the Nutrition Officer should have a solid technical base and practical experience to contribute to the different actions that the Country Office carries out in support of the Government of Guatemala with the objective of preventing and reducing malnutrition in the country.

How can you make a difference? 

The Nutrition Officer provides professional technical, operational, and administrative assistance throughout the programming process for the nutrition programmes and projects. The officer applies theoretical and technical skills in researching, collecting, analyzing, and presenting technical programme information to support the development and formulation of the Nutrition Programme within the Country Programme, while learning organizational rules, regulations and procedures.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

The following minimum requirements:

  • Education: A university degree in one of the following fields is required:  nutrition, public health, nutritional epidemiology, global/international health and nutrition, health/nutrition research, policy and/or management, health sciences, nutritional epidemiology, or another health-related science field.
  • Work Experience: A minimum of one year of professional experience in a developing country in one or more of the following areas is required: nutrition, public health, nutrition planning and management, or maternal, infant and child health/nutrition care.
  • Language Requirements: Fluency in Spanish and English is required.

The following desirables:

  • Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency.
  • Experience in health/nutrition programme/project development in a UN system agency or organization.
  • Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian) or a local language.

Otherwise, the selection will be canceled.
