BACKGROUND
Founded in 1933, the International Rescue Committee is a leading, non-sectarian, non-profit organization providing emergency relief, protection, rehabilitation assistance, resettlement services, and advocacy for refugees and victims of oppression or violent conflict. Funded by the Department of State’s Bureau for Population, Refugees, and Migration (PRM), the Reception and Placement (R&P) program operates in all 24 field offices across the US Programs network. Through the R&P program, IRC staff support newly arrived refugees during their initial resettlement period as they transition into a state of self-sufficiency. The headquarters resettlement team provides support and guidance to IRC field offices regarding the implementation of the grant program.

SCOPE OF WORK
The R&P Intern will work to support the national management of the R&P program as part of the headquarters resettlement team. In this role, the intern will work on current and on-going initiatives and will assist the headquarters resettlement team in providing program support to the IRC network. She/he will work directly under the supervision and guidance of either the Reception and Placement Senior Program Officer or the Resettlement Program Manager. COMMITMENT: minimum 3-4 months, two full days a week.

RESPONSIBILITIES
-Assist in development and dissemination of training and reference materials
-Assist in creating and updating resettlement field manuals, case file forms, and standardized policies and procedures
-Provide logistical support for conferences, meetings, and webinars
-Assist in drafting notes in meetings, conferences and discussion calls etc
-Provide support for communication initiatives domestically
-Other duties, as assigned, in support of the HQ Resettlement Team

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
-The intern will develop a strong understanding of the US resettlement program, including program design, service implementation, and reporting procedures
-The intern will enhance skills in data collection, knowledge management, and visual presentation
-The intern will become familiar with best practices in refugee resettlement and quality assurance

REQUIREMENTS
-Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree or coursework in international studies, social work, or a related field preferred
-Familiarity with the U.S. resettlement program or immigrant service provision preferred
-Strong oral communication skills, including the ability to effectively distill and present complex information in a concise, accessible way
-Excellent research, writing, and editing skills
-Experience using Mailchimp and Survey Monkey.
-Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
