Comprehensive Analysis: To conduct in-depth secondary analyses of the dataset, highlighting various dimensions of violence against children in Tunisian school settings.

Academic Contributions: To produce four high-quality research papers addressing key themes related to violence in schools to be submitted in high ranked journals.

How can you make a difference? 

• Data Review and Preparation: Thorough review of the existing dataset to understand its structure, variables, and limitations. Cleaning and organising the data for secondary analysis, ensuring methodological rigour.
• Thematic Analysis:
  • Theme 1: Prevalence and patterns of bullying in school settings and cyberbullying
  • Theme 2: Socio-economic and demographic correlates of violence against children.
  • Theme 3: Psychological and educational impacts of school violence on children.
  • Theme 4: Comparative analysis of violence on school drop-out. Based on the availability and quality of the data, the themes are subject to change.
• Research Paper Development:
  • Conduct detailed analyses aligned with the identified themes.
  • Draft, revise, and finalise four research papers adhering to academic publishing standards.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and peer reviewers to refine findings and address feedback.

Deliverables

• Organised and cleaned dataset, ready for analysis.
• Four peer-reviewed research papers addressing key aspects of violence in schools.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have… 

• An advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in Social and Political Sciences, demography, Public health, Statistics.
• 5 years data Analysis and Research Methodology: Proficiency in quantitative and qualitative data analysis, including experience with statistical tools and interpretation of complex datasets.
• Subject Matter Understanding: 5 years experiences in relation to violence against children, education systems, and child protection frameworks, particularly in the MENA region.
• Academic Writing and Communication: at least five papers published. Strong skills in drafting research papers, policy briefs, and presentations that meet international academic standards.
• Language: English. French or Arabic are an asset.

Evaluation Criteria:

1. Technical Evaluation (e.g. maximum 75 Points)               B) Financial Proposal (e.g. maximum of 25 Points)
   • Diploma (15 points)
   • Experience in analysing qualitative and quantitative data (20 points)
   • Familiarity with child protection, including MENA and with Tunisia is an asset (20 points)
   • Experience in writing research papers and policy briefs. (20 points)

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws. 

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
