Dr. Danny Chi Man Leong (https://staff.uic.edu.cn/dannycmleong/en) from the Department of Life Sciences at BNU-HKBU UIC is currently recruiting graduate students.
The research focuses on climate change and urban ecology. This MPhil/PhD study aims to understand how native species adapt to environmental pressures, such as climate change and reduction in forest area, by altering their physiological traits and behavior. The research will use insects such as ants and butterflies as the study model and also investigate the changes in native species communities and their impact on ecosystem functionality and services, aiming to enhance the understanding and conservation of ecosystem functionality, services, and health, thereby contributing to the development of ecological civilization.
The project is supported by the research start-up program of the university and the National Geographic Society (USA).
