Position Details Wesleyan University is a private liberal arts school with a student body of 3000 undergraduates and 200 graduate students.
Human Resources supports the mission of Wesleyan University by providing services and programs that attract, develop, and retain a highly qualified and diverse workforce. Reporting to Director of Talent Acquisition and Employment, the priority for the Recruitment Partner is to source and recruit active and passive candidates to increase the diverse makeup of the University’s staff and to support assigned staff searches. The position will be located on campus with an option for hybrid work in the future.
Responsibilities include:
Increasing Diversity Among Staff:

  • Develop strategies (recruitment and sourcing) and external resources to ensure diverse candidate pools.
  • Utilize proven traditional, non-traditional recruitment and sourcing techniques including social media and cold calling candidates to build talent networks and pipelines.
  • Monitor applicant pools for diversity throughout the search.
  • Use affirmative action availability data to determine baseline diversity metrics for searches and to inform recruitment strategies.
  • Provide training and assistance to hiring managers on diversity and related topics.
  • Maintain and nurture pipeline of leads and identify future opportunities that align with their experiences and interests.

Full Cycle Recruitment Duties:

  • Partner with hiring managers to understand positions, develop position descriptions, recruiting plans and interview questions for assigned positions.
  • Conduct outreach for open positions (posting to job boards & social media sites).
  • Maintain communication with hiring managers throughout searches to ensure effective, efficient, and legally compliant searches.
  • Assist hiring managers with applicant reviews, interviews, reference checks, and offers as needed.

Administrative Duties:

  • Maintain accurate and timely metrics on outreach efforts and outcomes.
  • Coordinate background check and other pre-employment processes for finalists.
  • Participate in new hire orientation and onboarding. Follow HR recruiting practices and suggest process improvements.
  • Maintain compliance with union contracts when conducting searches.
  • Assist in maintaining HR recruiting manuals, webpages, and other resources.
  • Cross train in other employment areas to provide backup support when needed.
  • Attend regular HR team meetings and functional area meetings.
  • Represent HR at campus events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years of successful recruitment and sourcing experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Demonstrated success building diverse applicant pools and strong knowledge of resources and strategies to reach a diverse applicant pool.
Demonstrated experience building recruitment networks including individuals and community resources.
Demonstrated knowledge of current recruiting and sourcing methods and best practices.
Demonstrated knowledge of best practices/strategies for effective interviewing.
Demonstrated knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
Competency working in an applicant tracking system.
Competency with Office 365.
Demonstrated ability to provide superior customer service and responsiveness to employee and candidate requests/needs.
Excellent communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks in a professional and timely manner.
Demonstrated commitment to work within a diverse environment and interact collegially with individuals of different backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct thorough analysis of candidates.
  • Experience with LinkedIn Recruiter.
  • Knowledge of Handshake Recruitment Platform.
  • Experience with Career Fairs Search Firm/Staffing Agency recruiting experience.
  • Experience conducting or developing training.
  • Experience with affirmative action plans and data.
  • AIRS certified diversity recruiter or similar diversity sourcing/recruitment certification.
  • Experience with Workday.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of recruitment metrics and ability to track, report, and analyze data.
