Benefice of Lockington and Lund and Scorborough with Leconfield
tendersglobal.net
The four churches in our benefice are enthusiastic, welcoming and friendly and have a real desire to grow and reach out to our families. Our ministry with our church school is vital to our future. Regular outreach and social fund-raising events such as Saturday morning Bacon Butties, Open Gardens and regular Coffee Mornings are all well supported by our villages. All our church buildings are valued by the villagers and remain an important focus for festivals throughout the year and major life events. All of our churches offer a warm welcome to our inclusive worship.
We are committed to working together and structuring our shared life to ensure a house for duty priest can lead us forward with joy and enthusiasm. We have active lay ministry and a strong wardens’ team who will support our new Priest. Amongst our four parishes we have one Festival Church and a small hamlet church looking to work more closely with our largest church, and all within a three mile radius. We have a benefice administrator and strong support from retired clergy and lay worship leaders. Our deanery is looking to further support its rural parishes to share resources and ministry.
We are praying for a new Priest who will:
- Be an encouraging, prayerful and visible presence in our villages
- Have a genuine desire to connect warmly with people of all ages
- Nurture and enhance the good relationship with our Church school
- Recognise and use the skills of the laity across our benefice
- Lead us to joyfully proclaim the gospel in our communities
We are situated in a glorious part of the East Riding of Yorkshire, on the edge of the Yorkshire Wolds and just a few miles north of the attractive Georgian town of Beverley. One of our children in the local school said ‘It’s a great place to be – come and join us!’ and we agree.
