Summary Statement

The City of Boise’s Recycled Water Team is seeking a Recycled Water Operations Intern for the Summer of 2024. This internship will be up to 40 hours a week and will work a flexible schedule depending on availability. This is an excellent opportunity for a STEM student interested in a career in water management or environmental services. Work will be done at the Recycled Water Pilot at the Boise Micron Campus. The City has fleet vehicles that can be used; a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record are required.

Essential Functions

Recycled Water Operations Intern

  • Assists with sample collections at the Recycle Water Treatment Pilot facility
  • Assists with sample labeling, organizing, and distribution
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements for sample processing
  • Data entry related to sample collection
  • Adheres to all health and safety policies, procedures and regulations. Promotes a culture of safety and ensures that all employees and contractors follow safe work practices 
  • Preferred Major: STEM degree, or related degree program

Minimum Requirements:

  • Undergraduate or Graduate student (degree-seeking) enrolled in an accredited college or university, or recent grad within the past 12 months
  • Valid drivers license and clean driving record
  • Proficiency in MS Office products including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access.  Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with general guidelines under minimal supervision
  • Ability to participate in a variety of tasks involving multiple levels of a large municipal organization 
  • Successful candidates for these positions will be self-motivated, inquisitive, and reliable
