Any part-time employee of the university shall not have concurrent employment for any other Church-affiliated employer unless specifically excepted. No part-time employee of any other Church-affiliated employer shall be offered concurrent employment for the university unless specifically excepted.
This is a non-BYU student position
Recycling Operations Technician I – 3/4 time
Job Summary
The Recycling Operations Technician is responsible for collection of recycling materials, secure document management, proper baling and shipping of materials, distributing recycle containers, training and supervision of student crew and other duties assigned by supervisor.
Essential Functions
Supervision
Assign work duties to student employees
Training
Train employees in proper use of equipment and equipment safety
Collection
Container distribution
Arrange for confidential document pick-up and shredding
Follow procedures for collecting, sorting, handling and shipping of recyclable materials
Provide recycling collection at events, such as sporting events, student orientation and moving in and out of housing
Maintaining equipment
Monitor equipment for maintenance and repair needs
Perform basic maintenance and cleaning of equipment
Arrange for maintenance and repair
Quality Control
Analyze processes and improve efficiencies in all stages of the recycling process
Participate in waste audits
Safety
Recognize potential hazards in recycling process and provide resolution
Education/Experience
Minimum education/experience required: 2 years training and experience in industrial equipment operations
Preferred: 5+ years training and experience in industrial equipment operations; high interest in environmental science subjects, as displayed on transcripts or class descriptions.
Skills, abilities, knowledge, licenses, certifications:
Required:
- Expertise in recycling industry standards
- Ability to work well with others
- Ability to operate equipment such as forklift, baler, shredder, box truck, etc.
- Excellent public relations skills
- Ability to properly and legally load trucks
Preferred:
- Commercial Driver’s License or ability to obtain
Environment: Frequent exposure to unfavorable conditions such as all-weather, or working in cramped, very dirty, or unpleasant quarters Physical Exam Required: Y Physical Exam Details: Lifting up to 50 lbs.
