Gardens and Cleansing Team are working to create a cleaner, greener more circular city.

The role of Recycling Support Officer will play a key part within the Gardens and Cleansing
Team to drive forward and assist in the development, implementation and promotion of the best
possible household recycling services for our residents as well as playing a key role in the
delivery of the Clean City Awards Scheme (CCAS). The CCAS is a membership scheme for City
businesses where we recognise and reward great environmental behaviours, whilst engaging and
sharing best practice with our business community.

Based within the City of London at the Guildhall, you will assist the Clean City Awards and
Recycling Manager in the development and running of effective communications campaigns and
projects whilst also creating materials to drive forward the Circular Economy, waste
minimisation, re-use and household recycling services to City residents. You will also engage
city workers and visitors with exciting and innovative street recycling initiatives and
campaigns.

The role will also involve the promotion, marketing and running of the CCAS which includes
arranging the annual awards ceremony and developing the award categories. The role will also
involve delivering the Clean City Awards membership benefits such as, creating the monthly
newsletter, providing waste management advice as well as arranging regular Environmental Best
Practice Meetings.

The Recycling Support Officer is a unique role for a unique organisation – it’s an opportunity
to make a difference to the residents, workers and visitors to the Square Mile of the City of
London.

We are looking for someone who is hard working with a “can-do” attitude, organised, passionate,
quick to build relationships and keen to make a difference. Excellent knowledge of Microsoft
Office and confidence in the processing and manipulation of large amounts of data is needed.
You will also be proficient in using other IT packages, possess excellent communication and
marketing skills, analytical and numeracy skills and the ability to work under pressure,
multi-task and meet deadlines. .

An understanding of waste collection and recycling services, being educated to degree standard
or equivalent in a relevant subject to the post will be desirable as is having significant and
demonstrable experience within this area of work including working with businesses.

A 35 hour working week applies to this post commencing at 9.15 am and finishing at 5.00 pm
Monday to Friday. This post currently requires a minimum of three working days in the office.
Additionally, the successful applicant must be flexible and able to work occasional evenings
weekends to e.g. go out with the collection crews and attend events as required.
