Brief description of the organization

Yazda is a non-governmental, non-profit organization established in 2014 in response to the genocide committed by the self-declared Islamic State (“IS”) against the Yazidis and other communities in Iraq and Syria. Since its inception, Yazda has worked with local and international partners to provide Yazidi survivors, IDPs, and refugees with humanitarian, accountability, and advocacy services in their post-genocide recovery. Yazda has been working in Iraq since October 2014 and operates out of the main offices in Duhok in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and out of the Sinoni office in Sinjar in Nineveh Province. Yazda is registered as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in the United States and is registered in Erbil, Baghdad, the United Kingdom, Germany, Sweden, and Australia

Under the supervision of the Program Coordinator the Referrals Officer will manage Yazda’s referral system. The role aims to ensure a centralized system for referrals from external partners or beneficiaries to Yazda and coherent internal referrals of cases within Yazda’s various projects.

Main Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain referral tracking tools with support from Yazda leadership and partners.
• Coordinate with Yazda IT to maintain the confidentiality of collected data.
• Respond to calls, messages, or emails directed to Yazda’s referral number and email during working hours.
• Ensure Yazda’s social media platforms include automated messages with the referral email and phone number.
• Sort external referrals to identify those relevant to Yazda’s work.
• Centralize old referrals and service records into a table for migration to Yazda’s centralized database, Bayanat.
• Add all new referrals to a tracker table and ensure regular updates to Bayanat.
• Prepare and maintain statistics on several services provided by Yazda internally as well as external referrals and ensure statistics are organized per age group, gender, demographics, etc.
• Refer internally all the relevant cases to the relevant project Focal Points or Project Managers.
• With the support of Project Managers, develop partnership and referral pathways with other NGOs.
• Create a mapping of all services available in Duhok and Sinjar.
• Refer external cases that Yazda cannot support.
• In case of urgent GBV or child protection cases, ensure a timely referral to established partners.
• Provide Yazda leadership with regular updates on gaps identified in services available and support in developing concept notes.

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in relevant sector.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a relevant field.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Languages skills, English, Arabic, and Kurmanji.
• Experience in handling sensitive information with confidentiality.
• Patience and ability to work under pressure
• Proficiency in data management and reporting tools.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and partners.
• Knowledge of referral systems and pathways in humanitarian contexts.
