American Friends Service Committee, the Middle East Regional Office is launching a Regional Advocacy and Capacity Incubator Hub (RACI Hub). This hub will bring together civil society organizations and community leaders from Iraq, Yemen, Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, Jordan, Egypt, Tunisia, and Morocco to collaborate on addressing the needs of local communities.

The Hub will commence with a pilot phase to provide support to civil society on a smaller geographical scale (in 3 countries: Palestine, Jordan, and Lebanon) and within specific thematic areas, namely Just Responses to forced displacement and Migration and Climate Justice.

The pilot phase is to foster connections with civil society entities, identify priorities, conduct research, explore potential advocacy channels, and enhance the advocacy capacity of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs).

The Project officer (PO) will work closely and support the Hub Coordinator to coordinate and facilitate the work of the RACI Hub, ensuring an integrated holistic approach in program implementation among CSO partners to achieve program outcomes.

Together with the Middle East Regional team, the PO will support research and policy change activities of the AFSC in the community and in relationships with other stakeholders. The PO will report to the Project Coordinator and collaborate with the Middle East region team, as well as several AFSC experts at the Central office in Philadelphia.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Research Support

  • Conduct literature reviews and gather relevant materials.
  • Assist in the design and execution of research projects, including data collection and analysis.
  • Collaborate with the regional team to develop research methodologies and tools.
  • Ensure data integrity and accuracy during data collection and analysis.

Data Management

  • Organize and maintain research data, including both quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Assist in the development of data storage and management systems.
  • Ensure data security and confidentiality.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Prepare research reports, summaries, and presentations.
  • Assist in the development of research publications and articles.
  • Maintain clear and organized documentation of research processes and findings.

Capacity Building

  • Support capacity-building initiatives for CSOs and activists.
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of training sessions and workshops.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop training materials.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with other team members to coordinate research activities.
  • Collaborate with partner organizations and stakeholders when necessary.
  • Participate in team meetings and discussions.

TARGETED SPECIALISED KNOWLEDGE

  1. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., social sciences, international relations, environmental studies).
  2. Proven research experience in the Middle East with advocacy and development programs.
  3. Strong analytical and research skills.
  4. Proficiency in data collection and analysis tools/software.
  5. Fluency in written and spoken English; demonstrated ability to report orally and in writing; ability to write and edit materials for publication in English.
  6. Demonstrated commitment to AFSC’s mission and values.

REPORTING AND COMMUNICATION

The PO will regularly communicate with both hierarchical and functional personnel at AFSC. The PO will support the Project Coordinator to provide updates and reports for review and feedback as necessary.

COMPENSATION

A comprehensive medical and hospitalization plan and social security. The Employer will make a monthly statutory deduction of the income tax and the employee social security from the gross salary of the employee based on the Jordanian Labor Law.
